Same same but different 😂 Compare the curve!

So why the curve?? 👉🏼 When the jetty was built, it needed to line up with the deep channel. Interestingly, however, it turns in a wide curve rather than a much simpler sharp turn. The reason for this is that a railway line and train was originally planned for the jetty, but this was never constructed.

🎣 WEEKLY FISHING REPORT – PORT WELSHPOOL 🎣

The full moon has brought some ideal tides this week, with strong movement through the main channel and plenty of action around the sheltered pockets of Lewis Channel and Snake Drain.

Best tides: 2 hours before to 1 hour after the high tide
Water: Clear in the channel, slightly murky on the ebb tide
As the weather warms up, the water temperatures are rising, which means more activity on the water.

🐟 What’s biting?
• Long Jetty: Salmon, squid & trevally
• Lewis Channel: King George whiting & flathead
• Corner Inlet: Gummy shark & s�napper

🦑 Squid are being caught around the jetty pylons and w**d beds, particularly around dusk.

🎣 Skipper Dave’s tip: For King George whiting, keep moving until you locate the school. Lightly berley with crushed mussel or pellets to hold the fish around the boat.

Heading out fishing? Remember your PFD, keep an eye on local fishing regulations and leave your spot cleaner than you found it.

A little update on the fun we’ve got planned for AFL Grand Final weekend at LJ! 🏉

Friday night – The Naked Spud will be here serving up their delicious dinner. Who doesn’t love a good spud?!

Saturday – The Naked Spud are back again for lunch AND dinner, so no one has to worry about cooking all weekend! 😋 Then at 12pm Saturday, we’re getting the kids (big and small!) ready for some pre-Grand Final fun outside the Rec Room.

Sunday - That Charcoal Meat Guy is coming back and serving up a storm! Woohoo!

🎉 We’ll have balloon games, a footy handball competition, prizes to be won and plenty of laughs. We’ll also have a Marshmallow Guessing Competition! Guess how many delicious marshmallows are in the jar for your chance to win the whole jar of deliciousness!
