1KD N70 HILUX out of high pressure fuel pump 289hp / 657nm 🫡 With a large set of injectors the next limiting factor on your 1KD is the HP3 fuel pump if your wanting over that +300hp / +700nm, not only is it just about rail pressure. It’s what comes with a high pressure fuel and understanding what rail pressure does to a built high flow injector 📈
With a large high flow injector we want to shorten that open time (on time), with that we want rail pressure to back it. With low rail pressure or a pump that can’t supply enough rail pressure at certain RPM’s your limited on the MG/S 💻 what this means is at 1800bar we maybe able to deliver 180mg/s with let’s say 1100usec of open time. With the ability to go to 2100bar and run that exact same open time of 1100usec we can now deliver 220mg/s (example) 📈 that’s a lot more fuel with the same open time and only charge being rail pressure.
Now we a running more fuel, higher atomisation BUT NOT only are we getting more fuel with less open time. We are shortening the open time of the injector so much we are now advancing the timing with out advancing the timing 🧐 SOI (start of injection) BTC remains the same yes but EOI (end of injection) IS NOT, this in affect creates a advance timing all dependant of how short or shorter the on time is reduced and only advancing EOI. So sure a high pressure fuel pump that delivers rail pressure where we want it is great. But there is a bigger picture than just RAIL PRESSURE 📈
Fuel system in a diesel is king and always will be. You can lack in turbo and make more power than the guy with more turbo but less fuel system. This is the Modified Standard 🫡💻📈
