Fire in the sky over Port Huon.
When the Huon Valley wakes like this, the still water becomes a mirror and every mast is etched against a sky that looks almost unreal. The Kermandie River glows copper and gold before the day has even begun.
Best time to visit: Sunrise delivers the calmest water and the most dramatic colour. Autumn and winter often bring crisp mornings and lingering mist, while summer offers earlier light and longer days to explore the Huon Valley.
How to get there: Port Huon Marina is around a 50 min drive south of Hobart via the Southern Outlet A6 and Huon Hwy A6. Follow the highway through Huonville toward Port Huon, then turn onto Shipwrights Point Rd to reach the marina. Parking is available nearby, and the waterfront is easily accessible for a short stroll.
