It's competition day at Naval Base! 👷🔥

The Construction Steel Work and Welding Competitions are underway today, with competitors putting their skills to the test across a range of industry-standard tasks.

Construction Steel Work competitors are challenged to fabricate and assemble steel structures, demonstrating accuracy, technical skill and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Welding competitors are assessed against strict industry standards across a variety of welding processes and materials, showcasing the precision and quality required across many industries.

A big thank you to and for their generous prize donations and ongoing support.

The Perth SkillsWest Careers & Employment Expo brought together more than 16,000 students, jobseekers and career changers to explore what's possible through vocational education and training (VET) at TAFE. Visitors also had the opportunity to see WA's Skillaroos from North Metropolitan TAFE and South Metropolitan TAFE in action as they prepared for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai in 2026.

What a fantastic day at the VETiS Commercial Cookery Competition, held at South Metropolitan TAFE - Mandurah Campus on Friday 31 July! 🍽️🧑‍🍳

Students showcased their culinary skills, creativity, professionalism and passion for the hospitality industry, producing an impressive range of dishes throughout the competition. It was wonderful to see so much talent, dedication and enthusiasm on display.

A big thank you to all our judges listed below, for supporting the next generation of industry professionals and for their hard work in delivering such a successful competition.

What a fantastic few days at the Perth SkillsWest Careers & Employment Expo last week at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre!

Last Saturday marked the conclusion of an exciting event, with thousands of visitors exploring career pathways and getting hands-on insight into a range of industries and trades.
