My dad has always been, and always will be, one of the foundations Benzenes was built on.

Remembering him, and all the dads who are no longer with us today.

Happy Father’s Day. ❤️

There’s something seriously nostalgic about a VH SS sitting just right on a set of V5 Simmons. 👌

It’s a combination that takes you straight back to the glory days of Aussie street machines — tough, simple and timeless.

Add in a proper paint correction to bring some depth, clarity and life back into the paintwork, and you’ve got the recipe for the perfect Sunday cruiser.

Old-school Aussie muscle, period-correct wheels and freshly corrected paint… hard to beat. 🇦🇺🔥

Would you keep the Simmons, or go back to the factory wheels?

Feeling Blue 🔵

True Blue 💙

There’s just something about a Falcon GT wearing one of Ford’s most iconic colours. Aussie muscle done right — tough, timeless and unmistakably GT.

Where does True Blue rank in your all-time Falcon GT colours?

Whether it’s peak ’90s HSV is probably up for debate… but it’s definitely right up there.

We’ve always had a soft spot for ’90s Aussie muscle at Benzenes, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. 🇦🇺

Sometimes it’s about improvement, not perfection 🙏

“You washed it without a hose?” 🤔

Yep — and the entire process took 12 minutes (and I can’t move as fast as I used to).

The EB Fairmont Ghia had picked up a decent layer of dust and, after having to leave it outside in the rain this week, needed a quick clean.

Perfect opportunity to show just how effective a rinseless wash can be.

Rinseless washing sometimes gets confused with simply wiping down a dirty car — it’s not. The solution provides lubrication to safely lift and encapsulate dirt from the surface, allowing it to be removed with the correct wash technique without the need for a traditional hose-and-rinse process.

I went over the entire car, including the wheels, and from pressing record to pressing stop the whole job took 12 minutes.

No pressure washer. No hose. Minimal equipment and virtually no mess.

Obviously this isn’t the process for every situation — a heavily contaminated or muddy car is a different story — but for a well-maintained, protected vehicle with light to moderate dirt, it’s an incredibly quick and effective way to keep it looking its best.

12 minutes condensed into 45 seconds. 👌

And for anyone wondering exactly what I used, all the products used in the process are shown at the very end of the video.

Not every detail is about perfection.

This week I had an old-school Torana come through that was a little rough around the edges. The paint was showing its age, having likely been laid down more than 20 years ago, and there were plenty of imperfections that simply weren’t going anywhere.

As detailers, we’re always striving for perfection — chasing defects, refining finishes and trying to make every car as good as it possibly can be.

But sometimes experience tells you when to stop chasing perfection and start working with what’s actually in front of you.

Every car has its limits. Paint thickness, previous repairs, age and general condition all play a part in deciding how far you can safely push things. Sometimes the goal isn’t to make something perfect — it’s to achieve the maximum improvement possible without compromising what you started with.

And that was exactly the case with this Torana.

It may not have left perfect, but it left looking considerably better than when it arrived — cleaner, sharper, glossier and with a new lease on life.

Sometimes that’s what a successful detail is all about.

Know the limits. Maximise the result. Preserve the car.

With another FD RX-7 through the shop recently, it seemed like a good excuse to dig this one out of the archives. 🔙

A genuine RX-7 Spirit R — Mazda’s final limited-edition send-off for the FD3S and one of the most desirable versions of an already iconic car.

Released in 2002, the Spirit R series was limited to just 1,500 cars for the Japanese market, with Mazda giving the FD one last upgrade before production came to an end. Depending on the variant, they received features including 17-inch BBS wheels, red brake calipers, Bilstein dampers, upgraded brakes and unique Spirit R interior details.

More than two decades later, the FD still hasn’t really aged — and the Spirit R is about as good as the factory version gets.

Always good looking back at cars like this that have passed through Benzenes over the years.

Throwback to one very special rotary. 🔺
