It’s 6am. You and your friends are driving to the racetrack. You’ve been awake since 5am preparing the car. The tire on the trailer has exploded. The spare tire is flat. You pulled over and nearly sunk in to soft gravel. You’re standing on the side of the road with a 12v compressor checking the remaining three tires.

You think to yourself “it doesn’t get any better than this” - because it doesn’t. This is a perfect day. You’re all laughing whilst trying to figure out how to jack up a trailer to swap a tire. You tripped on the A-Frame and your friend accidentally started winding the wheel nuts on backwards. You were only 5 minutes late in the end. The racecar performed at top level and you were able to set PB’s every lap.

Join me for my fastest lap at yesterday’s point to point shootout! I managed a 76.3 on this run, with a top speed just below 160km/h. It was my first time racing at Collie Motorplex so i still have quite a lot to learn but it was a FANTASTIC track. I understand why everyone in West Australia raves about it!

Thank you to Mx5 Racing WA Inc. for hosting a fantastic day and to Collie Motorplex for providing a fantastic venue! Truely an awesome day!

CHEAP RACE DAY ALERT!!!

Hey all - the crew Mx5 Racing WA Inc. are throwing an extremely cheap track day at Collie this weekend. You can enter to race on just the Saturday, or enter for the full weekend if you want. (Open to all makes models - not just MX5’s). It’s open to all skill levels and all you’ll need is longsleeves, a helmet, a blue triangle where your battery is and a 1kg fire extinguisher.

It’s $200 for the Saturday (this includes the $50 for a day licence) or $350 for the full weekend (including day licence).

Saturday is a timed point to point shootout, and Sunday is a test n tune style event.

Waiting patiently… ready to come out of its fuel-issue-based retirement.

With a weekend at Collie Raceway booked, the car has received a lot of love (once again) to get it up to scratch!

I haven’t had the opportunity to race at Collie before, so i’m quite excited to see what it’s like!

Just re-stumbled across this excellent photo by one of my racing friends, Russell. I believe this may be from the last time the pink car managed to get around Wanneroo Main Track! Hopefully we can return there soon.

With some testing of the new fuel setup, a lot of stubborn issues i was having with the car have completely gone. It’s become quite obvious that my 30 year old factory Honda FPR had been beginning to fail me!
