The much anticipated GWM Cannon Alpha 3.0L Turbo Diesel may be arriving in September but (as reviewed by Drive.com.au) the current Cannon XSR still represents great 4X4 off-road value 👊

"When you want something that is truly off-road capable, equipped with the right kind of gear, but you want your dollar to travel a bit further, then this ute is one option that stands head-and-shoulders above the rest."

There's loads of capability on offer here for a great price, but the ex*****on of the off-road hero from GWM isn't perfect.

"The two-variant seven-seat 4x4 large SUV range starts with the Tank 500 Lux at $65,990 drive-away, while the flagship Tank 500 Vanta comes in at $71,990 drive-away.
Buyers taking delivery before October 30, 2026, can also score an introductory $2000 cash bonus or fuel card."

GWM in the News‼ CarExpert.com.au reports on pricing for the GWM Cannon Alpha 3.0L Turbo-Diesel, including introductory offer -

"The Lux and Vanta diesel, priced at $58,990 and $63,990 drive-away respectively, join the existing plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Lux and Ultra. GWM is also offering both with either a $2000 cash bonus or a $2000 fuel card for vehicles purchased before October 30, 2026."

GWM has put a larger, more powerful turbo-diesel engine in its flagship Cannon Alpha ute, joining the existing plug-in hybrid.

GWM will soon finally offer a diesel powertrain in its Tank 500 SUV in Australia, more than two years after it originally launched. Diesel engines are still preferred by buyers of these large, body-on-frame SUVs in Australia.
