A few snaps from a big day of footy at Admiral Park as the Joondalup Giants hosted the Willagee Bears.

With Ladies Day celebrations adding to the atmosphere, it was a fantastic day around the club with supporters, players and volunteers all coming together to enjoy the occasion.

Results-wise, it was a mixed bag for the Giants, with one win, one draw and a couple of tough losses across the grades, but plenty of positives to take into next week’s round.

Thanks to everyone who came down and supported the day, and a special thank you to OutWest for capturing all the action. 📸

Kai Gudgeon on brother AJ’s opportunity

A proud moment for the Gudgeon family, with AJ Gudgeon earning a train and trial opportunity through the Perth Bears pathway.

Willagee Bears captain Kai Gudgeon spoke about how proud the family is to see AJ get his chance, saying it’s the reward for years of hard work, sacrifice and dedication to his footy.

Kai believes AJ’s signing is further proof that Western Australia has genuine rugby league talent capable of competing at the highest level.

For AJ to be WA-born and bred and now have the chance to come home and be part of the Perth Bears is something special for the family and for rugby league in this state.

AJ’s opportunity is another positive sign for rugby league in Western Australia, proving the talent pathway is growing and that local players can aspire to reach the next level while representing their home state.

🚨 SHOULD ROYCE COME HOME? 🚨

With reports that Royce Hunt could be on the lookout for a new club next season, the question has to be asked…

Should the Perth Bears be making a play for one of WA’s own?

Born and raised in Perth, Royce came through the junior ranks at the Willagee Bears before forging an NRL career through hard work, grit and determination.

The Perth Bears are building their squad for 2027, and what better way to connect with the local rugby league community than by bringing home a player who started his journey right here in WA?

Experienced. Tough. Proven at NRL level. Perth made.

The people would love to see it.

But do the Perth Bears?

👇 Let us know in the comments.

Should Royce Hunt come home and become a foundation Perth Bear?

🏋️‍♂️ STAY READY ACADEMY 🏋️‍♂️

A huge thank you to Vi, President of the Willagee Bears, for helping make this vision a reality and providing the opportunity for Kai to establish Stay Ready Academy within the Willagee Bears Rugby League Club.

We’re incredibly humbled and grateful to now have a dedicated space for our players and community to train, improve and grow together. This gym is more than just weights and equipment — it’s a place where hard work, discipline and development come together.

A massive thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life. We’re proud to provide something that the entire Bears community can benefit from as we continue to build stronger players and stronger people.

Special thanks to OutWest for putting together this video and helping showcase what Stay Ready Academy is all about. We appreciate the time, effort and support.

Stay ready, so you never have to get ready. 💪🐻

🚨IZZY TO THE BEARS?🚨

Israel Folau is reportedly looking to return to the NRL in 2027 after recent reports linked him to a training-trial opportunity elsewhere.

With the Perth Bears entering the competition and searching for marquee names to help launch the club, could Folau be a left-field option?

Love him or hate him, Folau’s sporting résumé is almost unmatched in Australian sport.

🏉 Former NRL superstar
🏉 State of Origin representative
🏉 Australian Kangaroos representative
🏉 Wallabies representative
🏉 International rugby union star
🏉 One of the most dominant aerial finishers rugby league has ever seen

At his peak, Folau was one of the biggest drawcards in Australian sport, capable of filling stadiums, generating headlines and attracting mainstream attention wherever he played.

The former Brisbane Broncos star has spent recent years playing overseas, but at 37 years old still believes he has something to offer at the elite level.

Would he be a week-to-week superstar? Probably not.

Would he bring experience, leadership, media attention and instant recognition to a brand-new franchise? Absolutely.

The Bears will need big personalities and household names to help launch rugby league’s return to Western Australia.

Could Israel Folau be the marquee signing nobody saw coming?

👇 Bears fans, would you offer Izzy a one-year deal?👇
