⚠️ WE WERE SHOCKED: WE FOUND THIS IN A TRUCK.

This truck came to us after several repairers had already looked at the problem without finding the cause. After carrying out some simple checks, we discovered battery leads crossing over each other and creating sparks every time the truck was started — all hidden underneath the battery tray.

Electrical faults aren’t always complicated, but they can become extremely dangerous if they’re left unnoticed. In this case, it’s amazing the truck didn’t catch fire. Sometimes a simple visual inspection is the first and most important step in preventing a much bigger problem.

⚠️ WHY IS YOUR VEHICLE BLOWING BLACK SMOKE?

Black smoke from the exhaust is a sign that something isn’t working as it should. The cause can vary from sensor faults and intake issues to more complex engine-related problems, which is why it’s important to have the vehicle properly inspected rather than guessing.

In this case, the vehicle was misfiring, producing heavy black smoke and using more fuel than normal. After investigation, we found a failed oil pressure sensor had allowed oil to enter the ECU, creating a fault that required repair. Identifying the cause early can help prevent further damage and unnecessary repair costs.

⚠️ A FAILED SENSOR CAUSED ALL OF THIS.
This Chevrolet Silverado came into our workshop with a major misfire, an engine warning light and heavy black smoke coming from the exhaust. After investigating the fault, we found that a failed oil pressure sensor had allowed oil to travel through the wiring harness and into the ECU, creating a much larger problem than anyone expected.
Faults like this can take time to diagnose and repair, which is why it’s important not to ignore warning lights, misfires or changes in vehicle performance. Identifying the root cause is the key to fixing the issue properly and preventing further damage.
