High Gear in the MN HQ! ⚙️

We often share the finished product, but there’s plenty happening behind the scenes before an installation comes together.
Turning raw materials into the components you see delivered on site is a part of the process we don’t always get to show.

This week at MN HQ, we’re taking a closer look at frames for three island benches, alongside a stack of 860mm andf 700mm exhaust fans.
A snapshot of what’s happening on the factory floor before the finished equipment reaches your workshop.

Completing the Shipton Smash Repairs MN masterpiece 🏝️

This extra-large paint mix room features an MN specialty: the MN stainless steel three-stage ventilated ISLAND paint mix bench. The premium design gives two operators room to work on opposite sides of the bench, with dual-access storage underneath.

The paint mix room is paired with a clean room at the rear, complete with external factory access. Two access windows serve the mix room—one from outside and the other from the clean room.

All machinery above the preparation bays has been designed and orientated to accommodate a roof-mounted mezzanine. We love partnering with teams that share our approach to maximising space.

MN Preparation Bays - Designed to the Shipton Smash Repairs facility!✴

When designing a facility with a unique layout, workshop workflow should guide the equipment design. The custom MN preparation bays at Shipton Smash Repairs are a great example of this.

Each preparation bay features dual roof-mounted exhaust fans and a custom canopy mounted to the facility structure, designed to maximise accessibility and support productivity. Curtain rails concealed within the bulkheads on both sides allow the bays to be partitioned at each end, giving the team flexibility to separate work areas or open them up for easy access as needed.

Both preparation bays also feature variable speed drive technology, allowing operators to adjust extraction to suit the task. MN’s airflow speed sensor keeps extraction low when pneumatic tools aren’t in use and brings it back to the required level when they are, so extraction is right where you want it, when you need it.

Good things take time. MN Spraybooths is proud to have worked alongside Shipton Smash Repairs (SSR), taking this project from early concept through years of planning and refinement to the completed masterpiece you see today.

A family-owned business serving the Port Stephens area for more than 30 years, SSR provides panel beating, spray painting and accident repairs from its Raymond Terrace location.

The installation features:

More room for Cardinia Engineering 📮

A new facility and a wider workspace for Cardinia Engineering, with an MN Spraybooths semi downdraft booth tailored to their requirements.

At 5 metres wide—1 metre wider than a standard spray booth—the internal cabin provides additional working room while retaining the standard three front doors. This gave the project the extra cabin width required while keeping the cost efficiency of the standard three-door opening.

The machinery sits proudly atop the booth, making the most of the available space in their new facility and keeping valuable floor area available for other work.

Hornsby Prestige Smash Repairs — the other half of the pair 👏

Both sites received the same complete equipment package, this time we’re highlighting the paint mix room and dedicated clean room combination.

The paint mix room and clean room are situated beside, but separate from, the spray booth to suit the facility’s requirements and accommodate the rear factory access door.

The paint mix room features a three-stage ventilated stainless steel bench, while the clean room includes a spray-out box and gun wash. An above-ground full downdraft spray booth with pneumatic ramps and roof-mounted machinery completes the setup.

Two neighbouring workshops, two matching installations—a project we’re proud to have delivered for the Hornsby Prestige team.

Hornsby Prestige Smash Repairs — a pair of standout fit-outs 👏

Two sites directly across the road, with two complete fit-outs delivered back to back by the MN installation team.

For the Hornsby Prestige Smash Repairs team, the project brought a matching spray booth, paint mix room and dedicated clean room area to each of their two repair workshops.

Site 1 features a full downdraft spray booth on the right, with the combined paint mix room and clean room running alongside it on the left. This configuration complements the facility while allowing for future development.

The layout was made possible by MN’s above-ground machinery and internal pneumatic ramps, bringing the full downdraft setup into the existing workshop.

Down Town Kustoms, bigger and better. 🔧

When DTK moved into their larger Newcastle workshop, we had the pleasure of partnering with them again to deliver the new MN paint facility.

From restoring classics to creating complete custom builds, Down Town Kustoms brings muscle cars and hot rods to life with a strong focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail. Their work spans chassis and suspension fabrication through to custom metalwork, bodywork and paint—bringing the whole build together with care at every stage.

The facility features an MN dual exhaust full downdraft spray booth, a paint mix room and a premium oversized dual preparation space, with the setup tailored to DTK’s requirements.

MN takes great pride in partnering with like-minded businesses through each stage of their growth. Being chosen to supply this fit-out continues the relationship built with DTK, and we’re proud to be part of their next chapter.
