Volvo trained, with full factory access to Volvo VIDA - diagnostics, technical information & software. At 'Your Local Mechanic' we service & repair all makes & models, and specialise in Volvos. We are the ONLY Independent Volvo specialist-Master Technician in the Geelong/Surfcoast and Western Victoria region that has been factory trained and certified by Volvo Cars Corporation. We have the most up to date diagnostic equipment and skills to best look after your vehicle's needs, with cost effective repairs and efficient diagnostics. Owner and Operator Giles from Your Local Mechanic has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a passion for servicing, repairing and diagnosing vehicles to exceptional standards. Having worked in dealerships and smaller garages both in the United Kingdom and Australia, Giles is accustomed to dealership quality and his skills have been tested and proven, as he later achieved the highest ranking certification in the automotive industry- Master Technician. Factory trained and certified Honda Diagnostic Technician (UK). Factory trained and certified Volvo Master Technician (Australia). Experienced with European vehicles. Experienced with all makes and models.

We’re taking a little break!

*Reopening on Monday 26th October*.

Sorry for the late notice! We’ve been absolutely jam-packed with work lately and have only just had a chance to put this post up.

Although it’s not all time off — the first week will be spent undertaking the VicRoads Roadworthy Tester course, which means we’ll hopefully soon have another exciting service to offer at the workshop!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and apologies for any inconvenience while we’re away.

We look forward to seeing you all when we’re back!

Your Local Mechanic – Volvo Specialist now has full access to Volvo VIDA — Volvo Cars factory diagnostic, technical information and software platform used by Volvo dealerships.

This level of factory access is extremely rare outside the Volvo dealer network, making us one of very few independent Volvo specialists in Victoria and Australia with full VIDA access.

That means access to the latest Volvo factory diagnostics, repair procedures, technical information, wiring diagrams, and OEM software downloads and programming — right here at our workshop in Ocean grove.

A full set of diesel glow plugs removed from this Ford Transit without any blood, sweat or tears.

These things can become seriously seized in the cylinder head, turning what should be a simple job into a total nightmare… especially if one snaps.

We’re incredibly humbled by the trust our customers place in us.

Last week we had the privilege of welcoming a customer who travelled all the way from Launceston, Tasmania to our workshop in Ocean Grove, Victoria.

That meant boarding the Spirit of Tasmania and making the overnight journey across Bass Strait, simply to have his Volvo XC60 repaired by us.

After struggling to find the confidence and support he was looking for locally, he chose to make the trip because he wanted someone he could trust with his vehicle.

Thank you for putting your faith in us Tomas. It was a pleasure to meet you, and we’re honoured to have been able to help.
Knowing our reputation has reached beyond Victoria is something we’re incredibly proud of.
