BMW 3 Series racing in a Saloon Championship at Croft. I'm not sure if it was an ex BTCC car as several competing were Super Tourers.

Single Seater Action from Croft, I think these were Formula Renault cars

In 1994 significant investment returned Croft Circuit almost to the original 1964-81 layout, with the track reclaiming the Railway Straight although Spa Bend was omitted (it now is part of the paddock). The circuit reopened in 1995 but then was remodeled in 1997 to it's current form. Some of these photos are from a mixed saloon car meeting in '95/'96, with further photos from a later meeting on the current circuit.

Flying Firebird
Modern American metal is an unusual choice for circuit racing in the UK. Stealth Bomber flat black paint certainly made it stand out - so much so this photographer struggled to get a sharp shot whilst panning.

Double Trouble
A bit of double exposure going on in this shot. Back in the old days it meant your film hadn't wound on correctly - these days with digital cameras it means you've done something 'arty' in Photoshop! Anyway number 79 wasn't having a good day and was being hauled back to the pits by the Aycliffe tractor.

White Top 55?
Well I think it's 55. Any ideas who it is? I'm glad my photography skills have improved since then and yes a Hartlepool fence post manages to jump into shot at the wrong time!

Whilst looking through old pics I found a couple more including this shot of the Hartlepool Stadium pace car. I remember the white second generation Chevrolet Camaro that also did the pace car honours at Aycliffe and this Chevy Nova which looks like a '75-'80 model. The winners in the back look like Ministox drivers who probably have kids or even grand kids of their own by now!
