A fellow Falcon GT Owners Club of NSW member asked whether I actually had struck a deal with Mother Nature or the Devil today. Every forecast had promised rain, so I broke my own rule and drove a modern GT instead of the Hardtop I really wanted to take. We encountered a few sprinkles on the way to Wollombi Tavern to meet friends from the Falcon GT Car Club Of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley GT Club, but nowhere near enough to call it rain!
Once again, it was a perfect day. Jackets stayed in the cars, umbrellas were nowhere to be seen, and there was barely a breath of wind. The excellent food arrived promptly, and conversation flowed as freely as the drinks from the bar. The day seemed to pass in a minute as the drive felt longer than lunch, which is exactly the kind of run I rate highly.
The only downside I find after days like this is I get home feeling like I didn’t get to chat to everyone, but on a day like this with so many members in attendance of 3 clubs, that would take quite a few hours! The formalities were left to the barman from the Wollombi Tavern to choose car of the run and that went to Kim and Colin Broadbent for the beautiful BF Cobra. That would be the clean one and it is well deserved.
Taking the photos also helped me get my steps up, as our cars were spread out and the picturesque setting offered plenty of great photo opportunities, or so I think; I’ll let you be the judge. A big thank you to Wollombi Tavern for its hospitality, and to the Falcon GT Car Club Of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley GT Club for making the day so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you all again on the Bathurst weekend late September.
