Fun fact for the Patrol guys! 👌

Some GQ and GU Patrols came factory with a locking rear H233B diff.

Unlike most aftermarket lockers, the factory Nissan locker is actually vacuum operated.

They’re a pretty solid setup, but one common failure we see is the locker engagement ring breaking or wearing out, leaving the locker unable to engage properly.

Another thing a lot of people don’t realise — the factory locker diff uses different-length axles compared with the standard H233B setup, so you can’t always just mix and match parts.

When a Toyota throws a P1251 turbo stepper motor fault code, 99% of the time the stepper motor itself isn’t the problem.

The real culprit is usually seized or sticking variable vanes inside the turbo. Carbon buildup causes the vanes to bind, preventing the actuator from moving through its correct range and triggering the stepper motor fault code.
