Some news: Clean Flow DPF now has a workshop in North Lakes.

From Thursday 22 October you can drop your vehicle off at 3/59 Flinders Parade, North Lakes. We're next to JAX Tyres, sharing the same driveway.

DPF clean and fault find at the workshop is $650.
It's by appointment only, with no drive-ins, so please book first. Drop-offs are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and Saturdays can be arranged.

To all my regulars, mobile service isn't going anywhere. I'll still come to you, quoted per vehicle.

Ever had an AdBlue warning pop up on your diesel?

Found this on a Range Rover Evoque during diagnostics. It was throwing NOx faults, and when I got to the AdBlue injector it was crusted over with crystals.

It's usually caused by lots of short trips, where the exhaust never gets hot enough, or by old AdBlue. The fluid dries on the tip instead of spraying properly. Leave it and you'll get warning lights, fault codes, and eventually a countdown telling you the engine won't restart.

Give it a decent highway run now and then, and buy sealed, in-date AdBlue.

Flashing DPF light on a Subaru Forester diesel? Here's what was going on with this one.

This 2010 Forester in Victoria Point came in with the DPF light flashing. A full system check showed soot load at 57% and 362 km since the last regen, so the filter was struggling to clear itself.

I did a two-stage on-vehicle clean with the Wynn's MultiSERVE, with the filter left in place and nothing unbolted, then a monitored forced regen. Soot came down from 57% to 0% and the regen completed. That's what all that grey foam in the second photo is.

Engine oil level too high on your Triton? It's worth getting checked.

This Mitsubishi Triton in Strathpine came in with an "engine oil level too high" warning, followed by a DPF fault. Diesel had been getting into the oil, which stopped the DPF from regenerating, so soot built up in the filter.

I removed about 1.5 L of excess oil, carried out an on-vehicle chemical clean of the DPF and ran a regen. No faults afterwards, and I've recommended an oil service to finish the job.

If your oil level is creeping up, have it looked at before it causes DPF problems.

Toyota Hiace in Morningside, cleaned on the spot with no towing and no drop-off.

I did an on-vehicle DPF clean with the Wynn's MultiSERVE, then checked the DPF pressure with a digital manometer. It read around 0.4 kPa after the clean, right where it should be.

Checking the numbers afterwards is part of every job, so you know it's done properly.

Heavy smoke during a regen? Don't ignore it.

This Holden Captiva in Narangba was putting out a lot of white/grey smoke every time the DPF tried to burn off, and the dash was saying the filter needed changing.

The DPF was carrying a heavy soot and ash load, so I cleaned it on the vehicle with the Wynn's MultiSERVE. No new filter needed.

Not every DPF problem throws a fault code straight away. Excessive smoke during a regen is a good sign the filter needs a proper look.

DPF light back on, or limp mode that keeps returning? Here's what the numbers showed on this one.

This Mitsubishi ASX in D'Aguilar had a P1498 DPF overload code, with DPF pressure at idle sitting around 4 kPa.

I did a two-stage on-vehicle clean with the Wynn's MultiSERVE, with the exhaust bunded to catch everything that came out, then a road regen on the test drive. Pressure dropped to 0.5–1.2 kPa, less than a third of where it started.

I measure before and after so you can see it's actually fixed, not just the light cleared.
