Toyota Hiace 200 series (4x4) kit design and fitout
Scan-based 3D design and CNC cut with assembly instructions and help for one of our manufacturing partners, DRQ International Imports.
The clients had specific heights, materials, drawer sizes and criteria they wanted met, including a bunk bed in the back that doubles as a settee đŸ˜…. Initially, I thought it was impossible, but after rigging up a test bunk at the heights they wanted, I got a feel for it.
We added our fibreglass side pod to allow more room for sleeping sideways. When assembled and ready for handover, I tested the upper bunk and it was great!
When not in use, the bunk slides back, allowing the bottom bunk to be used as a settee. The clients also wanted a shower base, which they would rig up with a curtain, so we built a custom fibreglass shower base with an economical flow coat finish.
Additionally, there were a couple of special 3D-printed elements, including a track for the side-sliding doors and a USB port outlet/bracket in the rear quarter.
We did multiple revision rounds with the clients so what they got was exactly what they wanted. They were pleased with the design, and DRQ International Imports did an awesome job on the assembly and general fitout, including lots of customisation to the van overall.
