🚨 BRISBANE’S SPORTING HERITAGE AT A CROSSROADS

The site of the former North Brisbane Speedway has officially been listed for sale. While the listing identifies the land as 96 Raubers Road, the community knows it as a 40-year landmark of Australian motorsport history.

The Omission of Identity
A primary concern for the community is the lack of acknowledgment regarding the site’s legacy as the Mick Doohan Raceway. We are seeking transparency as to why this historical identity and its value as a nursery for world-class talent was omitted from the official marketing process.

Community Safety & Disclosure
The listing has reignited urgent inquiries regarding historical land use. Significant concerns reported by the community regarding the site’s environmental history make a publicly available Environmental Site Assessment essential. We are advocating for full transparency to ensure public safety and informed development for the region.

The Human Cost
Beyond the dirt, the loss of this facility leaves a massive void in junior development. After the closure of multiple metropolitan venues, the displacement of hundreds of young athletes requires a strategic, long-term infrastructure solution.

Our Path Forward:
NDC documented the final days of this track because heritage shouldn't be left behind in the dirt. We are calling for:
1️⃣ Recognition of Heritage: Validating the site’s cultural and sporting significance.
2️⃣ Infrastructure Continuity: A commitment to a permanent, metropolitan-standard replacement facility for the next generation.
3️⃣ Full Transparency: Open disclosure of all site reports to protect the community’s interests.

Brisbane’s 100-year motorsport legacy deserves a future. Let’s ensure the "Olympic City" keeps its promise to local youth.
