6.4 inches and the new Texas record for largest hail ever recorded

After further review, the April 28th, 2021 Hondo Hailstone is now the official Texas State Record for largest hailstone. More details can be found at the links below from NCEI. The stone measured in at 6.416 inches in diameter!

While our hail season here in Australian is quiet, the hail season in Europe is starting to fire up

Overnight Switzerland and Holland both received large hail

We spent many years following the hail season around the world, spending a lot of time in Europe and the USA repairing thousands of hail damaged vehicles, however nowadays rarely travel internationally and focus on our local clients here in Australia

Chance of large hail in the maitland/Newcastle/port Stephens areas this afternoon

SEVERE STORMS WITH A LARGE HAIL RISK PASSING OVER MAITLAND.

These storms will move towards the east. If you live between Maitland and Port Stephens, large hail is a risk along with heavy rain and strong squally winds.

The main severe weather risk is north of Newcastle.

There are severe thunderstorms near Wollombi and Congewai in the Watagan Mountains are moving north east.

📍 The storms are expected to reach Cessnock, Kitchener and Kearsley by 6:35 pm and Branxton, Kurri Kurri and Lochinvar by 7:05 pm.

👉 WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
