Factor bikes are now in the garage.
Worth a look, and a test ride. Just don’t blame us if you don’t want to give it back.

💅 Before parting with your hard earned cash for an e-bike, make sure it's compliant and legal to ride in Tasmania!

Here's what you need to know:
☑️ There are two types of e-bikes currently permitted for use on Tasmania’s public roads.
➡️ ‘Power-assisted pedal cycles’ are limited to 200 watts and a weight of 50kg. They are primarily propelled through pedalling with an auxiliary motor.
➡️ ‘Electrically power-assisted bicycles’ are limited to 250 watts where power assistance is progressively reduced as travel speed increases above 6km/h and the power-assistance cuts off when the speed of the e-bike exceeds 25km/h, or 6km/h where the cyclist is not pedalling.
➡️Under Tasmanian laws, e-bikes that fit the above criteria do not need to be registered, and riders do not need to be licensed.
➡️ e-bikes that do not meet these requirements can still be used on-road if the rider is licensed and the e-bike is registered, or they can be used on private property without licensing or registration.
❗❌ e-bikes are increasingly being purchased online – which may result in purchases of unlawful devices from non-reputable suppliers.
❗❌ e-bikes that exceed the power/speed restrictions can reach speeds in excess of 50km/h and therefore, bring increased risks for riders and cause issues across the road network.
👮If you are caught riding an illegal e-bike, then you can be fined for a range of offences, including riding an unregistered motorbike, not having an approved motorbike licence or helmet, or riding a motorbike on a path.

Make sure you research your purchase and choose a reputable dealer to assist you with the right e-bike to suit your rider level, and transport needs.

PEDAL BITE TURNS 2️⃣

Two years of bikes, chats (pats), delicious coffee, and familiar faces. Very grateful for the people who keep walking through the door and supported us along the way. It doesn’t go unnoticed!

Here’s to the next lap and Laurie still thinking he runs the place. 🍻 🚲

Clocking off for a Christmas break.
Big thanks to everyone who rolled through our door this year, we couldn’t be more grateful for the Pedal Bite community. Hopefully catch you on the trails, minus the headbands.

Simon, Laurie, and Liam (who managed to avoid the photo). 🍻
