Phil has been a driver trainer for 20 years having joined the industry to supplement my part time income with Homecare Services NSW. Hisy passion for helping people & training skills were quickly recognised & within a very short time his driving academy became a full time occupation. Phil continued to add to his skills & completed additional training in accident rehabilitation and disabilities. He

's conducted workshops with various training colleges & always enjoys speaking at different organisations around the local area. He's taught people to drive from all walks of life & ages and enjoys the variety of a wide clientele base being able to easily relate to anyone & everyone. When aged license assessing for 85 yr olds was finally entrusted to the driving industry Phil was quick to obtain an additional qualification & has felt priviledged to help older drivers maintain their independence & help take the stress out of the test. Out of concern for an upgrade in the driving industry Phil joined the NRMA Safer Driving School team in 2007. He further added to his qualifications when Keys2Drive was launched by the Aust. Gov't in 2009. When the RMS introduced the Safer Driving Course in 2013 Phil qualified as both a facilitator and coach for the course running them on a regular basis with the NRMA in Coffs Harbour. Phil has felt the need to take things at a little slower pace & in order to do so resigned from a 9 yr. association with NRMA and has picked up the reins again of Hannaford's Driving Academy.

After 26 years of teaching learner drivers, being a coach in the Keys2Drive program and the Safer Driving Course, helping our seniors keep their licences and working with students with disabilities or accident and sickness rehabilitation to drive again I made the difficult decision to not renew my driver’s instructors licence.

So in three words, I have retired. I have loved every aspect of my work and have met many amazing people and families through these years.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who trusted me and chose Hannaford’s Driving Academy through which to provide your service.

PCYC is also open for the Safer Drivers Course but you need to book ahead as numbers are restricted due to Covid 19 requirements. Phil

Due to the Coronavirus we are temporarily closed and are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Keys2drive, Safer driving course through the PCYC and NRMA are also temporarily suspended and I have also put a hold on learner driver lessons. If you are a senior driver requiring your test be aware that I and the RMS have stopped testing.
If you are a senior driver please note that the RMS have offered a two month extension to your licence. You will however need to notify them so they can apply the extension. Contact numbers are: Coffs Service NSW 137788, Customer service 132213. Most importantly, are still able to drive during this period of extension. Look up, keep safe, we will come through this.

Looking for an instructor to conduct the Govt sponsored Keys to Drive lesson. I cover a large area and am willing to travel further afield if you can get your friends to register also and make a day of it in your area. All you need is your K2D rego code and your supervising driver. Each lesson is for 1 hour.
