📣Weekly Safety Share: PPE Basics 📣

PPE is your last line of defence, and it only works if you wear it correctly.
Too often, incidents happen because PPE isn’t worn properly, is damaged, or gets overlooked for “quick” tasks.

🦺 Remember the basics:
• Wear the right PPE for the task
• Make sure it fits properly and is in good condition
• Use it the way it’s designed - no shortcuts
• Replace damaged or worn-out gear

👉 Stay protected - never skip PPE, even for a quick task, always check your gear before starting, and set the standard for those around you.

✨2027 Apprentice Information Sessions✨

Over the past few weeks, we've had the privilege of welcoming future Light Vehicle Mechanics and Auto Electricians into our workshop.
During these sessions, we gave prospective apprentices a tour of our facilities, answered their questions, and provided a firsthand look at what life at NWM is all about.

What's next?
🛠The next stage is a hands-on workshop session, where participants will have the opportunity to experience the workshop environment and gain a better understanding of the trade and the business. It's a valuable opportunity for them to see if a career in the industry is the right fit for them.

📣Weekly Safety Share: Don’t Ignore the Obvious Hazards📣

On site, it’s often the everyday, “obvious” hazards that cause the most incidents. We see them so often, we start to overlook them.

✅ Stay switched on:
• Don’t walk past a hazard assuming someone else will handle it
• Take a moment to scan your work area
• Report it if it’s not safe

👉 If you’ve noticed it, it’s your opportunity to act.

Stay alert and look out for each other, because the obvious hazard you ignore today could be tomorrow’s incident.

Our final three machines have arrived in Mudgee, completing mobilisation for our new auxiliary equipment contract. 🚛

✨This marks another step in NWM’s growth, with operations now supporting sites across the Hunter Valley, Queensland, Gunnedah and Mudgee.✨

Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of serious injuries on worksites, and most of them are preventable with the right controls in place.

When you’re working at heights, there’s no margin for error. Taking shortcuts or skipping safety steps can have life-changing consequences.

Take a moment to protect yourself:
• Always use approved fall protection equipment
• Inspect harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points before use
• Maintain three points of contact when climbing
• Never rush or take shortcuts to “save time”

Gravity doesn’t give second chances.
