We’re usually working on everything from family cars and 4WDs to commercial fleets — but every now and then, we get called out to something a little more exotic. 😎

Today’s job? McLaren battery replacement. 🔋

Nothing too dramatic — just a battery replacement. But it’s not every day one of these comes up on the mobile schedule! 🔥

🔧 Dodgy DIY… holding on by a hose clamp! 😳

During a routine service, we found this battery terminal had completely rotted and corroded away — and was basically being held together by a hose clamp! 😬

A temporary DIY fix might get you home, but this is a serious electrical and reliability issue. Poor connections can cause starting problems, voltage drops, heat and even potentially damage other components.

Thankfully, we found it during the service before it caused a bigger problem. 👌

3 Mechatronics. 1 Week. 😳

Three VW mechatronic units replaced this week — across Polo and Golf models.

The video shows all three old units lined up on the bench after being removed. When these start failing, you can get all sorts of transmission issues — harsh or delayed shifting, gear selection problems, warning lights and even complete loss of drive.

These aren’t your average gearbox repairs, and proper diagnosis is critical before replacing an expensive component.

All three are now back on the road. 🔧🚗

High-RPM Shift = Clutch Failure 💥

This Suzuki swift came in after a high-RPM shift — and the clutch definitely didn’t enjoy it! 😬

The friction plate was heavily worn and had finally let go, with metal plate breaking and one of the spring coming out of the plate.

Once the clutch gets worn to this point, it’s not a matter of if it will fail, but when.

We pulled it apart, found the damage and got it sorted properly. 🔧

This Toyota HiAce came in for a general service.. and we’re glad it did!

Tyres are easily overlooked, But a close inspection revealed severe cracking throughout the sidewall.

Sidewall cracking isn’t just cosmetic—it’s a sign the rubber has deteriorated with age and exposure. Once tyres get to this stage, they’re at a much higher risk of sudden failure, especially in our Queensland heat or when carrying heavy loads.

Tyres don’t just wear out—they also age out.

If your tyres are more than a few years old, or you haven’t had them inspected recently, it’s worth having them checked. A five-minute inspection could prevent a dangerous blowout.

Don’t wait until your tyres make the decision for you.

❄️ No cold air? It might not be your compressor.

This Nissan X-Trail came in with an air conditioning leak. After pressure testing, we traced it to the evaporator core – hidden deep inside the dash.

Replacing an evaporator isn’t a quick job. The entire dashboard has to come out, along with a huge amount of interior trim, just to access this small component.

🎥 Check out the video to see what’s involved. It’s a great reminder that some repairs require hours of labour before you even reach the faulty part.

If your air conditioning isn’t keeping you cool, don’t just keep topping up the gas. We’ll find the leak and repair it properly.

When was the last time your Amarok could actually breathe? 🤯

This VW Amarok came in with drivability issues, and it’s easy to see why.

Years of carbon and soot had almost completely blocked the EGR valve, restricting airflow and affecting engine performance.

Common symptoms include:
✔️ Loss of power
✔️ Poor fuel economy
✔️ Check engine light
✔️ Rough running or hesitation
✔️ Excessive smoke

Regular servicing helps, but some diesel engines are simply more prone to carbon buildup—especially if they spend most of their time on short trips.

If your diesel isn’t running like it used to, don’t ignore the warning signs.
