Done during the week, so the weekend is yours. With managed care, the cleaning, the checks and the small jobs happen on a weekday, alongside the boat where she's kept, and she's ready when you arrive. We hold the schedule through the season, so all you need to bring is the day. Send us a message and we'll set one up.

A halyard wears in one place. Rope wears where it turns: over the masthead sheave, in the jaws of a clutch, around a winch drum. A cover gone fuzzy, a cover sliding over the core, or a halyard that won't hold its tension are the signs to act on, and a summer of sun makes them come sooner. New lines are specified by the job they do, not matched to the old one, and finished with splices rather than knots. Comment LINES and we'll check yours.

Summer is when managed care earns its keep. The more a boat is used, the easier small problems are to miss between one weekend and the next. Managed care means one team holds the whole picture, what was checked, what's due, what's booked, so you arrive to a boat that's clean and working, and anything that needed doing was done during the week. Every visit is recorded against the boat. Comment CARE and we'll set up a schedule for the season.

The first long weekend of the season is when a boat that sat through winter gets used properly, and it's when small things show: a battery that won't hold its charge, a bilge pump that doesn't switch on, an intake half-blocked with growth. A few minutes of checks at the berth is the easy version. If anything on board isn't behaving, send us a message and we'll help you sort it.

The racing season starts with the rig. Most rig problems are small and visible: a frayed halyard cover, a swage weeping rust, a pin with play in it. At the dock each is a job on the list; on the course it's a retirement. A proper check starts at the fittings, then the lines where they turn, then the tune for how the boat will be raced. Comment RIG and we'll check yours before the first start.

A clean boat lasts longer, not just looks better. Dried salt draws in moisture and keeps working on stainless, gelcoat and clears long after the last sail, so what's left on a hull now is still at work in December. Fresh water and a regular wash stop it where it builds up: under fittings, along seams, in hatch tracks. Every surface wants its own care, and the season is when it matters most. Comment CLEAN and we'll put her on a schedule.

The colour never left. It was only covered. A careful sand, worked with the grain, takes off the weathered layer and nothing more, and a deck treated that way lasts far longer. If your teak has gone silver, send us a message and we'll tell you honestly whether it needs sanding or just a proper wash.

A grey teak deck isn't a worn-out one. Sun and salt weather the surface within a season or two, and the timber underneath is still sound. This deck was sanded back this spring, working with the grain and taking off no more than the weathered layer, because a teak deck only has so much thickness to give. From here it's kept with gentle washing: a stiff brush across the grain is what wears decks out, not the weather. Comment TEAK and we'll look at what yours needs, and what it doesn't.

The season ahead. From here it's longer light, warmer water, and a harbour that fills up again week by week — Store Beach on a Saturday, the club fleet back out on a Wednesday evening, boats that haven't moved since May going somewhere every weekend. The ones that enjoy all of it are the ones that got ready before it started. Where's the first trip this season?
