"I don't have time for a weekly meeting."

Fair. Most business owners on the Peninsula are doing three jobs before lunch.

But think about where your time goes now. Quoting jobs that never come back. Chasing leads that were never really leads. Posting into the algorithm and hoping.

A Thursday morning with us runs the other way. It's wrapped up early enough to get on with your day, and what you talk about there keeps paying off for days afterwards, because the people in that room are out with their own clients, and they know exactly who to recommend.

It's not more time spent on business development. It's better time.

Come as a visitor and judge for yourself. One Thursday, no obligation.

7am, Mornington Football Club, Main Street.

Three weeks into October, and we're back at it tomorrow.

There's something about an early start that sorts out who really wants to be there, and the people who turn up tend to be the ones who follow through. This week Lauren Wild is presenting. If you've ever wondered how much of the Peninsula's property market runs on who-knows-who, she's a good person to ask.

If you've been meaning to come and have a look, tomorrow's a good one to pick.

Lauren Wild already knows what happens when you get local business owners talking to each other regularly.

She started Wild Women in Business, a local networking group, and hosts its awards nights. She's described herself as "really ingrained in the community", and her own work comes almost entirely through people who know her.

That's exactly the kind of person you want sitting next to you at 7am on a Thursday. Come and say hello this week.

Lauryn Hornby from Life-Gate, gave us two things to think about.

The first was addiction, and how much wider it reaches than most of us assume. Some of what sat on her list would look perfectly normal in a room full of business owners. The second was how a chapter like ours can actually be useful to an organisation that’s run almost entirely by volunteers.

Swipe through for both. And thank you, Lauryn. 💛

This Thursday's presenter got her start in real estate at 19. 🏡

Lauren Wild is a Mornington real estate agent who knows the business from both sides. Before focusing on sales, she built a property management rent roll that grew to 460 properties, then sold it in 2023. Most of her clients today are on their second or third home: people sizing up for a growing family, or sizing down once the kids have flown.

She also started Wild Women in Business, so she understands better than most why a room like ours works.

Come meet Lauren this Thursday — 7am, Mornington Football Club, Main Street. 👋

"Isn't BNI just a room full of people trying to sell to each other?"

It's a fair thing to wonder if you've never been. A room full of business owners sounds like it should be one long sales meeting.

But nobody's there to win the room over. The real work is getting to know each other's businesses: who does what well, what a good job looks like for them, and who they'd love to meet. So when a friend, neighbour or client mentions they need something, there's already a name ready.

It's less a sales floor, more a room full of people looking out for each other's businesses.

Come as a visitor and judge for yourself. One Thursday, no obligation.

Week two of October, and we're back at it tomorrow.

Thursday mornings here have a rhythm: coffee, handshakes, and somebody always walks out with a name they didn't have when they walked in. This week Lauryn Hornby from Life-Gate has the floor.

If you've been meaning to come and have a look, this is a good one to pick.

Most referrals in our room end with a job booked and a happy client. Lauryn Hornby's look a little different.

Lauryn is our chapter's charity member, and she runs Life-Gate in Frankston. The charity supports people living in crisis through outreach, counselling and life-skills training.

She's in the same room as the rest of us, at the same early start, and the same rule applies: the better we understand her work, the better we can point the right people her way.

It's one of the things we like most about this chapter. Come meet Lauryn this Thursday, and ask her what a good referral looks like for Life-Gate.

This Thursday's presenter has spent seventeen years showing up for people on their hardest days. 💛

Lauryn Hornby is the CEO of Life-Gate, the Frankston charity that helps people living in crisis get back on their feet. She started full-time in 2009, running street outreach and managing the volunteer team, and worked her way up to leading the whole organisation. Along the way she started COLOUR of HOPE, an art-therapy program, and MEALS For CHANGE, Life-Gate's mobile meal service. Frankston named her Citizen of the Year in 2019.

She's also our chapter's charity member, and a good reminder that this room isn't only about our own businesses.

Come meet Lauryn this Thursday — 7am, Mornington Football Club, Main Street. 👋

First Thursday of October, and two new faces in the room. 🎉

We inducted two new members this morning, and a third application is already in. Welcome to you both. We're glad to have you, and we're looking forward to sending some work your way.

Pictured with them is our new President, Jennifer Angsiting, starting her term with a full welcome party.

If you've been thinking about having a look, there's room for you too: 7am Thursdays, Mornington Football Club, Main Street.
