WHAT A WEEKEND FOR EASTEY FIRE TRUCKS!

What fantastic weather we had this weekend for the brigade Open Days attended by Eastey Fire Trucks!

It was a busy weekend, with our historic appliances heading out to four different brigades and plenty of opportunities to connect with the community.

Saturday – Mooroolbark CFA Open Day

First up, Eastey Pumper 3 (Austin) headed to Mooroolbark Fire Brigade for their Open Day. It was a busy day, with plenty of interest in the truck and its history. From our estimates, around 1,000 people attended throughout the day. What a fantastic turnout!

Sunday – Warrandyte CFA Open Day

Sunday saw Eastey Pumper 2 (HINO) return to Warrandyte CFA, where it proudly served their local community between 1993 and 1998. It was wonderful to bring the truck back to familiar territory and see so many people turn out. There were so many visitors that it was difficult to put a number on the attendance!

Sunday – Tyabb CFA Open Day

Eastey Pumper 1 (Type 1) headed off to Tyabb Fire Brigade, and from all reports, it was a cracking day! The brigade made us feel incredibly welcome, and we absolutely loved being part of their Open Day. A big thank you to everyone who made us feel at home.

Sunday – The Basin CFA Open Day

Eastey Pumper 3 (Austin) also made the short trip to The Basin Fire Brigade, where the brigade opened its doors to the local community. With plenty to see and do, visitors had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about their local fire brigade and the important work firefighters do.

A huge THANK YOU to all four brigades for inviting Eastey Fire Trucks along, and to everyone who stopped by to have a chat, admire the appliances and share their own fire service memories.

We would also like to thank our fantastic Eastey crew members who put in the time and effort to get the trucks ready and out on the road. These events are all about preserving our fire services history and keeping those stories alive for future generations.

Now it’s time for our trucks and crews to enjoy a well-earned breather before we do it all again next weekend!

Another four Open Days are coming up next week, including Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade, Bayswater Fire Brigade, Kinglake CFA and Caroline Springs Fire Brigade (CFA).

SUNSHINE, WARM WEATHER AND A BIT OF WATER PLAY!

So, what do you do on a beautiful sunny day? Play with water, of course! And that’s exactly what we do at Eastey Fire Trucks!

With Melbourne enjoying a gorgeous 24°C day, it was the perfect opportunity to get the Hino Type 2 out and ready for its next outing.

The decision was made to head off to Warrandyte CFA ahead of their Open Day this Sunday, 18 October, where the Hino will be on display for the community to check out, the community it once served.

Of course, when you have a heritage fire truck and a bit of sunshine, you need to make sure everything is working as it should, like the pump!

WELL, THAT’S A WRAP FOR THE AUSTIN!

What a busy weekend it’s been for the Eastey Fire Trucks team and our trusty 1956 Austin Front Mounted Pumper

After a big day yesterday, the Austin’s engine had barely cooled down before we were back on the road, heading off to Yarra Glen Fire Brigade Open Day.

With beautiful weather and a constant stream of locals and families visiting the fire station, it was fantastic to see the community come out in force to meet their local firefighters, check out the appliances and learn more about the important work our emergency services do. It’s fair to say it was a very successful day for the brigade!

A big well done to Yarra Glen Fire Brigade for putting on such a fantastic community event, and thank you for including Eastey Fire Trucks in your special day.

It was great to be part of the Open Day and give the Austin another opportunity to get out and about, sharing a little bit of our fire services history with the community.

Now it’s time to give the Austin a well-earned rest after a big weekend!

BACK to BACK EVENTS, COMMUNITY SPIRIT & CELEBRATING HISTORY!

Saturday, 10 October 2026, saw the Eastey Fire Trucks (EFT) team heading out to the beautiful Yarra Valley for a big day of community connection, emergency services and celebrations.

Our first stop was the Yarra Junction Fire Brigade & Little Yarra CFA Open Day and Emergency Services Expo at Yarra Junction Recreation Reserve.

It was wonderful to see so many local families coming along to explore the displays, meet emergency service personnel and pick up some valuable fire safety information. With fire trucks, ambulances and plenty of emergency services equipment on display, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Among the highlights attracting plenty of attention were the Dandenong platform appliance, our very own Eastey Austin and the Eastey Quickfill. It was fantastic to see the community showing such enthusiasm and interest in the equipment and history that mean so much to us.

After wrapping up at 1300 hours, we packed up and headed straight to Clematis Volunteer Fire Brigade to help celebrate a very special milestone, the brigade’s 90th anniversary!

Over the past few years, EFT has been privileged to attend and participate in a number of brigade celebrations. Every occasion is a reminder of the dedication, commitment and community spirit that have kept our fire services going across generations.

To everyone at Clematis Fire Brigade, congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone! A massive thank you to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to organise this event. You all did an amazing job, and we sincerely appreciate you welcoming EFT and allowing us to be part of your special day.

From sharing our passion for heritage fire appliances to celebrating the people and brigades who have served their communities for decades, these events are about so much more than fire trucks. They are about friendship, memories, community connections and honouring those who give so much of themselves to help others.

It was a big day, but one filled with smiles, great conversations and a genuine sense of community. We were proud to be there and look forward to future opportunities to support our emergency services family.

A GREAT DAY AT EASTEY HQ!

On Friday, 9 October 2026, a number of the Eastey Fire Trucks (EFT) crew headed to Eastey HQ for a catch-up over an awesome BBQ lunch. What was supposed to be a short lunch turned into a relaxed two-hour catch up!

After lunch, it was time to head outside and give the pump on Eastey Tanker 1 a good run following its winter break.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Rob from Auspower Forest & Garden, Stud Road, Bayswater, for getting the pump motor running so well. Rob has also been lending a hand with the auxiliary pumps on both our Type 1 and Type 2 appliances. We really appreciate his expertise and ongoing support.

A huge thank you also goes to GAAM Emergency Products for their continued assistance in keeping our GAAM Mk 200 A1 two-stage centrifugal pump operational. The support of both these businesses is invaluable in helping us keep our historic fire appliances and pumping equipment in great working order.

And finally, a massive thank you to Rick from Reach Rock Art for creating such a beautiful Austin fire truck garden feature!

The garden is looking fantastic, and the water-feature fire truck is an absolute standout. It’s a wonderful addition to Eastey HQ and a great way to combine our passion for heritage fire trucks with a bit of creativity.
