I have been living in Australia 🇦🇺 for 17 years now (cannot believe at times that it has been that long), and as much as I embrace the history, culture and lifestyle of this wonderful land, there are certain traditions from my own English culture that are instilled in me! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Ever the sentimentalist, so many of those traditions are entwined around happy memories, family, love and food ❤️ 😊

As a child, on my Grandparents’ kitchen table at lunchtime on Saturdays was always presented a selection of garden produce from Grandad’s greenhouse, his eye-watering Pickled Onions and Cherry Tomatoes, always a slab of Aged Cheddar, with a Pork Pie, Granny’s homemade Bean Pickle (which today feature in many of my Grazing Boxes). A large fresh still-warm baked loaf of Bread from the Bakery down the road on an old wooden board and the teapot in the middle of the table with it’s knitted tea cosy, forever being topped up!

As quite a large family, there was never any obligation to turn up on Saturdays but if you did, then that that was always the fare to tuck into. A Ploughman’s Lunch 🥗

Such lovely memories around that table, with Grandad pretending to read the tea leaves in our cups, creating some convoluted prediction and always 50p each slid into mine and my brother’s hands as we left, with a wink from him as if it was our secret!

So today, St George’s Day, it’s a Ploughman’s Platter, with a Pork Pie, Crunchy Pickled Onions, aged Cheddar, Cherry Tomatoes and a hunk of fresh Bread, a pot of Tea ….

…and lots of lovely memories to make me smile 😊 🧀 🍎 🍞 🍅 🫖

So, Mother’s Day is just around the corner!!! Any plans in place? 🌺

I am getting there behind the scenes in the organisation front and preparation of some cute little ‘decor’ touches for the Boxes.

The Super-Stylish High Tea Box with delicate ribbon sandwiches is always loved, so I know that will be at the forefront of the orders, added to the mix of all my Box options over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Mother’s Day weekend, with pick-ups available on all three days.

It’s going to be hectic but it’s going to be fun.

Of course my Brunch Box, Classic Deli/Antipasto Grazing Boxes and my standard Devonshire Teas will still be available, with some nice little Mother’s Day tweaks.

Either way, there are plenty of options, to get out your fine China or take your Box with you to a favourite spot for a Picnic!

The High Tea Box will consist of:

Finger Sandwiches (3 varieties chosen from 5 filling options)
Scones
Cream
Fresh Jam
Chocolate Brownies
Lemon Melting Moments
Chocolates
Fresh Berries
A selection of Teas

The Box will come in the following sizes:

Two person $60
Four person $100
Six Person $150
Eight Person $185

CHEESE CAKE, BRIE CAKE, BIRTHDAY CAKE 🍰 🎂 🎉

Call it what you will ….. I provided the Savoury Cake and the Crackers. Another friend brought along a bottle of Bubbly and the glasses. A Strawberry layered Sponge Cake appeared too!

That was it and it was great.

Two hours sitting in the sunshine at a favourite spot just around the corner overlooking Narrawallee Inlet. It was the perfect Birthday Picnic Lunch with the girls 🎉 🌞

NB: transporting the cake, to keep it intact, was actually the biggest challenge, driving at a speed of 30kms per hour holding the box aloft over the speed bumps on the way; but it was worth it!
