Very cool to see an airworthy Boomerang today. Thanks to my good mate David, I was able to get up close to it when it flew into our local aerodrome. My 1/32 Alleycat resin Boomerang is still one of my favourite models.

Not a diorama I would want to do with my 1/32 Aerotech DH-88 Comet!. Sad to hear of the crash of the real aircraft this week and hopeful for a speedy return to the air. Still one of my most awarded models.

Just back from QMHE after my second biggest weekend as a trader since I started my business 5 years ago. Barely had time to scratch myself for the last few days. I also entered the model show with three entries after a brief absence from show scene. Silver, medium scale enhanced for the 1/48 Blackbird, Silver OOB for the 1/32 Spitfire and Gold, large scale enhanced for the 1/32 F-16CJ which also took out Best Aircraft of the show.

I had a very busy day manning my stall at QMHE today and took a few pics of the 3 categories that I entered. My Blackbird, F-16 and Spitfire models on display.

A new tool from Gee Hobby that I have had the chance to use is the Self Adhesive Sandpaper Set. This set includes 7 grades of sandpaper from #280 grit through to #1500 grit with 20 pieces of each grade. These pieces measure 150mm x 15mm. The set has a very study storage case that enables the user to set it on the bench at a handy angle. Each piece of sandpaper is backed with self adhesive and can be attached to pretty well any shape with a hard surface. Gee Hobby also make a 3 piece carbon fibre sanding board set (not included) which is designed to fit the 150mm lengths of sandpaper and the user can cut the width of sandpaper to suit each of the 3 different width boards.

Highly recommended for bespoke sanding applications. Get the Sandpaper set, Sanding Boards and replacement Sanding pieces here:

Another arrival of stock, this time it’s the excellent Airscale decals and seatbelt sets. Still no time for any modelling of my own due to work and study requirements and of course getting ready for my biggest trading event of the year at the QMHE in a few weeks time.

I have been very quite on the modelling front for the last couple of months as I am doing my Command training on the A220 at my day job, so no bench time. Manscale Models store has still been operating however and I have been receiving a lot of stock in advance of next months Queensland Model and Hobby Expo in Ipswich where I will be trading. . I got a large shipment of Dspiae tools today. All restocks.

Very quite on the modelling front of late as most of my spare time has been devoted to studying for a seat change at work. I have found that little bits and pieces of build time has been a nice way to take a break though and have pushed on with some stuff on the 1/32 Tamiya F-4. As I am depicting a jet that will have no Sparrows loaded I have made up the small flipper doors that close the holes that the forward fins sit in and also boxed in the rear holes for the rear fins. I am getting close to priming this model finally.

10 years ago I finished this model. So much extra work went into the conversion to make it what it is. Given my decline in bench time over the last year and a half I can’t even imagine doing anything like this again…
