QuickCoast by Myroo Group is very sad to announce that, despite our best efforts to reconcile with the Cassowary Coast Regional Council, we have made the difficult decision not to return QuickCoast operations to Mission Beach.
Given the new circumstances that have developed since October 2025 surrounding the management of the Clump Point Marine Facility, we were ultimately forced to suspend operations due to what we considered unsafe berthing demands imposed by council facility management. At the same time, other operators were permitted to continue operating from pontoons outside applicable DTMR regulations and were reportedly allowed overnight use of pontoons without valid berthing agreements in place. To date, we have received no satisfactory explanation regarding this unequal treatment seemingly in favour with new operators who have no valid marine facility agreement.
Even with the prospect of further investment in infrastructure, we no longer have confidence in the management approach following numerous events, actions, and bad representations made since early 2023. Council representatives attended meetings throughout 2022 to work collaboratively through the marine facilityâs limitations so that QuickCoast could relocate and operate safely from Clump Point at Mission Beach.
Our workplace health and safety obligations to both crew and passengers must always remain our highest priority. Following a number of decisions and ongoing operational difficulties affecting our business since early 2023, we have ultimately concluded that continuing operations under the current circumstances is no longer commercially or operationally viable. Unfortunately, the ongoing hindrance to the success and stability of our company has reached a point where it can no longer be sustained.
With these unfair conditions that council have created, after considerable deliberation and with heavy hearts, we have made the decision to relocate QuickCoast and its operations to Sydney, where we believe our services can continue in a more stable and professionally managed operating environment.
We are currently arranging cancellations and refunds for forward bookings, and we sincerely apologise for the disappointment this news may cause. This decision comes despite the enormous effort and dedication our crew has invested over many years in creating an outstanding and professional tourism experience.
We would also like to sincerely thank the many members of the local community who supported us throughout this journey. We are especially grateful to our passengers, local businesses, tourism partners, and supporters who believed in QuickCoast and helped us achieve recognition as a âBest of Queensland Experienceâ for 2024, 2025, and approved again for 2026 â recognition we sadly have not been able to fully capitalise on.
That community support has meant a great deal to us, and we now look forward to the next chapter for QuickCoast on Sydney Harbour. We warmly welcome our Queensland friends to visit us there in the future.
