The week that was @ Dubsmith Garage ✌️

‘65 Dormobile Camper - plenty more road testing underway and it’s final clean down and buff works ready to be ticked off. Absolutely loving this Dormobile style camper that we’ve built with some beautiful timber work inside. Photos to come on its reveal in a few weeks.

‘66 11 Window - engine assembly ticked off and bolted into the engine bay and ready to start wiring and connecting to fire up next week. Trim cards cut to size and starting to tick those final boxes of interior pieces along with paintwork on miscellaneous items.

‘63 11 Window - Hanging panels starting to get prepped for exterior colour works in the coming weeks. More interior miscellaneous pieces coloured out in readiness for assembly when fit out commence

‘60 Shannons Insurance Job - assembly underway and starting to come along nicely. New wiring harness pulled through and electrics connected up. Windows and some miscellaneous items in next week and ready for hand over.

‘56 Oval Beetle - plenty of metal works being ticked off. Bonnet repairs mostly completed. Passenger side heater channel ready to go in next week. Rear crossmember fabric and rust replacement attended to after some major reconstruction was needed to rid of existing rust.

‘75 Baywindow - final pieces of mechanical items being attended to. Electric fuel pump being installed and some little items remaining for some final road testing then handover for the owner to drive the pants off it.

The week that was @ Dubsmith Garage ✌️

‘64 11 Window - engine assembly underway. Fresh gloss paint tinware being put back into place. Carby’s and other engine components starting to be bolted in place.

‘66 11 Window - final pieces of the engine coming together and starting to look absolutely stunning. Fingers crossed getting it plugged in next week to where it lives and hopefully firing it up to life. Rear shocks being measured to length and ready to bolt in.

‘63 11 Window - Underside metalworks nearing completion with plenty of welding being ground smooth and getting ready for final preparations for painting underneath. Freshly painted tin were coming together onto the engine assembly and starting to look really damn slick.

‘56 Oval Beetle - massive metal works this week with the left-hand side heater channel removed and plenty of surrounding areas needing to be repaired. Plenty of metal fabrication having to be done to replace crappy rusted metal and surrounding areas. Bonnet metal works being attended to. Small dents being metal worked out and filed down flat.

‘64 11 Window - engine assembly underway. Fresh gloss paint tinware being put back into place. Carby’s and other engine components starting to be bolted in place.

The week that was @ Dubsmith Garage 🤘

‘64 11 Window - engine tinware put through the Blasting cabinet and prepped for colour works. Loaded into the booth today, epoxy coated, basecoat and clearcoat laid down and looking a treat. A little twist of standard black with a green pearl in the basecoat to complement the exterior green colour and also the engine bay colour. Reassemble next week to have looking a treat.

‘66 11 Window - wheels and tyres sorted and looking a treat. Gearbox reassembled after painting, bolted in place, CV shafts and joints assembled and bolted in and looking at treat. Engine Bay assembly coming along nicely. Engine just about ready to bolt in place likely next week and get this fired up and brought to life.

‘63 11 Window - metalworks undecided finalising the rack and pinion kit install. Trial fitment always necessary when fitting in amongst aftermarket repair panels. Cab floor needing some attention to relocate the steering column hole as it did not lineup with the kit underneath. Engine tinware put through the blast cabinet and prepped through the week for colour works. Epoxy coated, basecoat colour and clear laid down and looking a real damn treat now almost completely assembled.

‘74 Baywindow - final pieces of the puzzle being attended to. Some final road testing next week before heading back north to its home. Door window rubbers and scrapers going in on both doors.

‘75 Baywindow - mechanical works just about wrapped up and out doing some road. Shakedown works to fine tune the engine and some suspension settings.

‘56 Oval Beetle - re-valance metalworks in full swing. New metal mostly complete and welded off with the rear valance needing some fine-tuning to have spotless then ready to weld off and smooth out all the welds completely. Lower B pillar inside the cab at the base of the cab door pillars being repaired to have structurally sound metal again ready for new heater tubes to go in likely starting next week.

The week that was @ Dubsmith Garage 🤘

‘66 11 Window - Reconditioned gearbox internals removed so case can be painted to make it look top-notch. Plenty more fit out works happening engine getting close to being installed once gearbox is assembled back together and bolted in place in the vehicle.

‘64 11 Window - More fit out works being completed. All brake lines underside completed with a little twist of difference showcasing some attention to detail works that we quite like doing. Engine to wear to be prepped next week and coloured out ready to then assemble and plug the engine back in for a final run up.

‘60 Shannons Insurance Job - Exterior coloured out two tone and clear coated and looking 100% better than when it first came in. Next up is for it to go onto the hoist to have the underside repairs painted and completed. Once that is done mechanically it will be reassembled and handed back to the owner.

‘63 11 Window - S**t loads of mechanical prepping taken place this week and coloured out in a beautiful grey gloss finish. Engine tinware up next to be painted with plenty of tinware prep work to be ticked off throughout the coming week.

‘56 Oval Beetle - Passenger side a pillar replaced and looking spot on. Rear Balance removed, side fender wings being replaced. Driver-side reoffending replaced and looking perfect again. Passenger side rear fender wing up next to be completed early next week.

‘74 Baywindow - Final tasks being attended to. Some annoying rust found under the side flipper window. New metal replaced back into it and complete now. Pop top roof cut into place, and pop top transferred over into the replacement vehicle now ready for its final road test and some minor rubber seal works, then handover to its owner to carry on its works back home.

‘59 15 Window Automatic - More road testing and tucked away in the storage container now until the custom corner glass is made and installed. Loving this bus!

‘66 11 Window - Final engine works coming together and starting to look absolutely stunning. Some more wiring finishing off and tidying up works to be attended to. The next stage of fit out works currently being planned to knock this stunning vehicle over and get it close to being ready for the road.

‘60 Shannons Insurance Job - All paint repair works in full swing inside. Cab coloured out and looking a treat. Exterior top and bottom colours being prepped for a quick birthday makeover refresh whilst incorporating the repair work quoted to the insurance job.

‘63 11 Window - Underside metal works wrapping up with jacking points being welded off and structural cross members being completed. Engine stripped down in full swing being cleaned up and new components being ready to go in.

‘56 Oval Beetle - Huge metal works in full swing and starting to look structurally sound again. Front vertical firewall removed and replaced, fuel tank opening supports and surrounds repaired.

‘74 Baywindow - Mechanical swap over from original Donna vehicle all complete, road testing in full swing and driving and absolute gem. Next week with some metal works to cut in the pop top roof from the original Donna vehicle with some final fit out window rubbers to be attended to.
