Today is Thank a First Responder Day.

The volunteer staff at the Ambulance Victoria Museum would like to thank all our first responders within AV across the state for all the vital work that they do every shift on every day. They include our Paramedics (ALS & MICA), Community Emergency Response Teams, Ambulance Community Officers, Patient Transport Ambos, Air Ambulance staff, as well as our Ambulance Call-Takers and Dispatchers, and my humble apologies for not also mentioning our amazing Triage Services staff too. Together our AV staff work alongside our Police members, Firefighters, State Emergency Services personnel, Marine Rescue and LifeSaving colleagues to keep Victorians Safe.

Thank you for all that you do.

This weekend three of our volunteers from the AV Museum attended the 49th Historic Winton Races at the Winton Motor Raceway at Benalla. Dave, Terry and Gary took along our 1965 Ford Galaxy 500, our 1992 Ford F150 Jakab and our 2005 Ford F350 ambulances (Just for show, not to race fortunately) for the public to admire. Well done to the trio as they won the trophy for the best Club Display at the annual event, onya guys!

Today the AV Museum welcomed the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria. Our volunteer Dave was on hand to provide the members with a tour and they loved the place. Amongst the group was 93 year old Roni, a former flight nurse with AV’s predecessor, the Victorian Civil Ambulance Service. Some of them brought along their classic cars to park alongside our ambulances, thanks to the big cats for coming.

On Saturday night, the AV Museum curator Ralph & myself attended the Ambulance Gala Ball held at the Malvern Town Hall. The event was a very formal affair to raise funds for breast cancer research. We brought along the 1960 Chrysler Royal and the 1965 Ford Galaxy to show off and people to pose with. It was a great night enjoyed by all, thanks to James Azzam who organised the event and invited the museum along.

Today our volunteer Dave from the AV Museum braved the cold & wintry weather to attend the Vintage Steam show in the town of Gisborne. He took the WB Holden ambulance which in its previous life worked out of the Alexandra Branch, Onya Dave 👍
