Severe J-Mould Separation โ This Is How Major Water Damage Starts
J-mould separation is one of the most common and dangerous causes of water ingress in caravans.
These moulds are positioned around the outer corners of the caravan, where there is constant movement, flexing, expansion and contraction. Over time, poor preparation, failed sealant or movement in the body can cause the J-mould to separate.
Once this happens, water can slowly enter behind the mould every time it rains or the caravan is washed.
The biggest problem is that you may not see any signs inside the caravan until the damage has already spread through the wall framing, insulation and internal panels.
This is why regular professional leak inspections are so important.
At Leak Tight RVs, we donโt just seal visible gaps and hope for the best. We pressure test the caravan, identify exactly where the water can enter and explain what needs to be repaired to prevent serious long-term damage.
Donโt wait until you can see water stains or soft walls.
