Licence card number now available to all myVicRoads customers
Dear valued VicRoads customer,
We are pleased to advise that you are now able to access the card number for your driver licence/learner permit in your myVicRoads account.
What is a card number?
A licence/learner permit card number is a unique number that identifies the card that you have been issued.
While your licence/learner permit number remains unchanged for the time you hold a licence/learner permit, your card number changes each time the physical card is replaced. This includes when you renew your licence, or it needs to be replaced if stolen or lost.
Having both a card number and licence/learner permit number creates two unique data sources against your licence/learner permit information and enables a two-step verification process.
Using the card number as an additional data point will be familiar to many, much like when using the number on the back of your credit card for online transactions.
When will I need to know my card number?
You may be asked to provide your unique card number when you use your licence/learner permit for identity verification purposes for services like opening bank accounts, loan applications, phone contracts and real estate transactions.
Where do I find my card number?
The card number is located in fine print under your year of birth on the back of your licence. All new licence cards/learner permits issued after November 2022 display the card number in the top right corner of the back of the card.
Now, you can also access your unique card number in your myVicRoads account. Strict authentication applies including secure login and two-step verification.
