HDT HAS A NEW OWNER, WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR AN AUSSIE ICON?
One of the most recognisable names in Australian performance, car history is entering a new chapter.
Australian-born racer and businessman Kenny Habul, a two-time Bathurst 12 Hour winner, has bought and secured the HDT Special Vehicles from Peter Champion. Habul is moving HDT to Bathurst, with plans for a workshop, showroom and museum, parts and performance upgrades for existing HDT owners, and a "reimagined" HDT currently in prototype testing.
For those who remember Peter Brock, the Group A Commodores and the legendary Blue Meanie, this is about more than a name on a badge.
HDT helped shape an era when Australian performance cars had their own identity. With Holden manufacturing in Australia now finished, the challenge is respecting that history while building something relevant for today's enthusiasts.
So here's the question:
A: Stay true to the Brock era with faithful restorations and heritage-inspired Commodores.
B: Go modern with new engineering, new performance cars and fresh ideas.
