Some may have seen this video in our gallery at musclecarmechanic.com.au but I couldn't resist posting it again. It's a Holden 308 Group C engine we built for a VH SS Commodore race car. Here it's on an engine dyno after a refresh. It made 460hp @ 6400rpm and just over 400ft/lbs from 4500rpm. Sounds great!

Muscle Car Mechanic ran this Group C VH Commodore SS at the Australian Grand Prix meeting in 2015. It was the car’s fourth outing since Muscle Car Mechanic completed a full rebuild including a new engine and a complete overhaul of the driveline, suspension and brakes.
This original Group C touring car was originally run by Scotty Taylor and Kevin Kennedy and was raced by them in five James Hardie 1000s at Bathurst from 1980 to 1984.
Pics show the car on track at the AGP and other views under the bonnet and inside. There is a video at the bottom of the gallery on our website that shows the engine on Gene Cook’s dyno after Muscle Car Mechanic freshened it up in 2018.
The engine was running on Avgas then and had 10.5:1 compression. It made 460hp @ 6400rpm and just over 400ft/lbs from 4500rpm.
This car is now in NSW with an owner who continues to race it in the Heritage Touring Cars.

Muscle Car Mechanic worked hard to get this EH to where its new owner wanted it to be. A partially completed restoration that had been dormant for 10 years, the car required extensive work to its driveline, suspension and brakes.
We overhauled the complete diff and gearbox, replaced the uni joints and yoke, all the wheel bearings and brake linings, brake pipes and much, much more.
The car breezed through its roadworthy inspection and the owner now cruises reliably in an EH Holden that drives just like it did when it was new.

Muscle Car Mechanic is a specialist mechanical workshop at Braeside in south east Melbourne.
We prepared the 2017 Victorian State Championship winning Group N Torana XU-1 Historic Touring Car, and the VH SS Group C Bathurst Commodore in the pics below. We recently carried out significant restoration work on the EH Holden shown.

We have appointments available for service and tuning, and one remaining slot this year for more significant mechanical restoration work.
