David Cox shared this with me during a phone call..

Everyone was hanging out and having a good time around one of Brian Jones' famous bonfires..

David saw Brian take off down the road without a word and thought he must just be off to the bottle-O.

Moments later, Brian hung a big u-turn and came barreling back down the road towards the fire.

Without notice or warning Brian flew right over the bonfire, landing the LTD on a log, which left the rear wheels off the ground.

With no way to move the car, Brian casually got out, stood back to look at the car, then reached into his top pocket and lit up a smoke... While everyone else was running around to look for the tractor and a way to quickly move the car off the flames!!

If anyone has an old 'car badge' they are willing to sell - I would love to hear from you 🎩👌

More amazing photos of the LTD surfacing of the woodwork — this time a pair of absolute gems captured back in October 2017. Huge thanks to Stav Stavrinou Sergiou for digging these out and sending them through, they’re a brilliant addition to the ever-growing collection of old photos and documentation I’ve been piecing together.

Shots like these tell their own story:
The big black LTD being winched up onto the tilt tray, weathered from years outside but still carrying that unmistakable presence. Even in rough shape, it shows just how tough and imposing these cars were, and why they continue to stir up so much interest decades later.

Every photo like this adds another layer to the history — not just of the individual car, but of the whole era when the LTD ruled the road as Ford’s flagship luxury machine. 🎩👌

A special piece of history...

During a recent trip to Canberra, I had the opportunity to speak with Geanine Powles, who shared some of the late Phil Senior’s treasured memories from his time as Head Chauffeur. He had the honour of driving dignitaries like Queen Elizabeth II, Fergie, and—most frequently—Sir John Kerr.

Among his keepsakes, we found this incredible photo of Phil in the LTD Ford at Government House, Canberra. A proud moment in a life of dedicated service.

This photo is.. a turning point, a milestone, and the beginning of the next chapter in the research and recording of.. The History of The Crown LTD. 🎩👌
