South channel fort or island is a must explore if passing by. constructed in the 1880s as protection and control access by sea to Port Phillip and the cities of Melbourne. Its purpose was to illuminate the main shipping channel at night, and to explode mines under attacking ships which had breached the defences at Port Phillip Heads. On the island you find passage ways, little jail cells and military installations.

Corrosion is our enemy. Bringing across some old aviation initiatives to the marine industry.
Alloy plate corrosion removed by sanding and scotchbrite pad scrubbing followed by a chemical treatment (Alodine). This coating is a anodising alternative that hardens to the surface and can last for years if painted, not requiring reapplication.
