AAC AUTOMOTIVE OFFERS

Ceramic Brakes Pads

Ceramic brake pads are a type of brake pad made from ceramic materials, bonding agents, and copper or other fibers, prized for their quiet operation, low dust, and long lifespan. They are a popular choice for daily driving due to their consistent performance and reduced wear on brake discs, but may not perform as well as metallic pads in extreme temperatures.

Quiet and smooth braking: Ceramic pads produce less noise and a more comfortable pedal feel.
Low dust: They generate significantly less brake dust, keeping wheels cleaner.
Long-lasting: Ceramic pads typically last longer than other types, which can lead to lower costs over time.
Reduced wear on rotors: They cause less wear on brake discs, further reducing maintenance costs.
Consistent performance: They provide stable braking performance across a wide range of temperatures.

Forward clutch/sun wheel: The sun wheel can break away from the spider in the planetary gear set.
Since the sun wheel is not involved in reverse gear, its failure will not prevent reverse from working.
This failure is often a direct cause of the "reverse only, no forward" symptom and requires replacement of the sun wheel.

Common problems and symptoms
---------------------------------------------------------

Oil leaks: Leaks from seals or gaskets can lead to low lubrication, causing premature wear on gears and bearings.

Worn or broken components: The crown wheel and pinion are particularly susceptible to wear or breakage from hard use, leading to a complete loss of drive. This can also be indicated by a build-up of metal particles on the magnetic drain plug.

Noises: Grinding, howling, or clicking sounds, especially when accelerating or turning, can signal worn-out components.

Vibrations: A faulty differential can cause noticeable vibrations.

Overheating: This can be caused by incorrect bearing preload or improper shimming during assembly, often leading to a failure of the pinion bearing.

Electronic locker issues: Models with factory lockers may experience problems with the wiring or actuator, preventing the locker from engaging.

Solutions and maintenance
‐‐‐-------------------------------------------

Routine maintenance: Regularly changing the differential oil, inspecting seals for leaks, and listening for unusual noises are crucial for prevention.

Replace with new parts: A standard rebuild with new components can fix many issues.

Upgrade: An upgrade, such as adding an aftermarket diff lock, can improve off-road performance and durability.

Correct assembly: When rebuilding, ensure the pinion bearing preload is set correctly to prevent overheating.

Use proper fluids: Incorrect or contaminated fluid can cause damage. Using the correct grade of gear oil is essential.

Prevention
------------------

Perform regular maintenance: Change differential oil at recommended intervals or after heavy off-roading.

Inspect for leaks: Regularly check for oil leaks and replace seals as needed to prevent lubricant loss.
Drive mindfully: Avoid hard off-roading or sudden, aggressive maneuvers that can stress the drivetrain.

Use correct tire size: Fitting oversized tyres can put additional strain on the differential.
