Recently returned from a trek through some of Western Australia’s remote outback country, Jochen's epic route took him off the grid for two weeks:

📍 Perth ➡️ Mullewa ➡️ Wooramel River Gorge ➡️ Gascoyne Junction ➡️ Kennedy Ranges ➡️ Mount Augustus ➡️ Meekatharra ➡️ Walga Rock ➡️ Jurien Bay ➡️ and back to Perth.

Then he backed it up last week, with another 1,500 km on-road run winding down through Collie, Denmark, Walpole, and up Caves Road to Yallingup. 🌊🏍️

Jochen transformed his machine into the ultimate self-sufficient overland setup:

• The Heart: The ultra-reliable 693cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine didn't miss a beat under the hot WA sun.

• The Suspension: Upgraded Shock Factory dampers soaked up punishing outback corrugations while keeping the sidecar tracking perfectly stable.

• Off-Grid Power: A 120Ah lithium battery tucked low into the sidecar footwell (keeping the centre of gravity perfect), charged by the bike’s alternator and a solar blanket to power an Engel fridge and CPAP machine for 14 days straight.

• Self-Recovery: An electric winch mounted to the sidecar step and mini Maxtrax bolted to the exterior, ready for any sand or mud the tracks could throw at him.

5,000+ KM. Countless memories. Another great adventure.

Toni on her CJ700B-A Explorer and Clive on his BMW rig set off on a 5,000km+ round trip, putting their outfits through some serious kilometres and making the journey one to remember.

Along the way, they stopped in for the Border Run Rally, joining around 200 like-minded adventurers and catching up with fellow CJ riders Sheila and Peter on their CJ700B-A Explorers.

From long stretches of open road to meeting up with fellow riders, this is exactly what the CJ700B-A Explorer is built for — getting out there, going the distance and sharing the adventure.

For those not in the know, the annual Border Run is a long-standing motorcycle rally. Riders travel across the Nullarbor to meet at Border Village (near Eucla) on the WA and SA border.

Peter and Sheila recently completed a 3266km round trip to attend the 50th anniversary event that took place on Saturday 1 August 2026.

In a message from Sheila, accompanied by fantastic pics and videos: "... [with] over 200 bikes there, the three CJ700's elicited a large amount of interest. They ran like a dream with no issues at all... every time we stopped anywhere we were surrounded by people asking questions."

Congratulations Peter and Sheila on yet another fun adventure!

700 KM IN AND MAKING MEMORIES

When David and Megan from Wollongong took delivery of their new CJ700B-A Explorer, we think their first messages summed it up perfectly:

“The most beautiful bike we have ever seen. Thanks so much... [and] Every house should look like this.”

And now they’ve almost completed stage 1 running-in before the first service:

“Well we are cold and wet. BUT happy as. 700(km) up and an oil change when we get home. Bloody freezing today. She is running like a dream...”

We think that's a great start to David and Megan's new CJ adventure.
