What does a heavy vehicle brake roller & shaker test actually tell us?

There’s only so much that can be identified through a visual inspection. At Core Diesel, our heavy vehicle testing equipment gives our technicians measurable data to help assess both brake performance and component movement.

🔹 Roller brake testing – measures actual brake force at each wheel
🔹 Brake balance – identifies side-to-side braking imbalance
🔹 Individual axle testing – assesses braking performance axle by axle
🔹 Shaker testing – helps reveal movement and play in suspension joints
🔹 Steering components – helps identify wear or excessive movement
🔹 Wheel bearings – helps detect play that may not be obvious during a visual inspection

Together, the roller brake tester and shaker plate provide a much clearer picture of what’s happening underneath your heavy vehicle.

Our equipment provides NHVR-compliant results and can accommodate axle loads up to 20,000 kg, making it suitable for trucks, prime movers, trailers and heavy machinery.

Whether it’s part of scheduled fleet maintenance, preparing for an inspection or simply checking the condition of your vehicle, it’s another way we can test with real data - not guesswork.

Just had a windscreen replaced? Your ADAS may need calibration.

Many modern vehicles have cameras mounted around the windscreen that support safety features like:
🔹 Lane departure warning
🔹 Lane keep assist
🔹 Forward collision warning
🔹 Automatic emergency braking
🔹 Adaptive cruise control

After a windscreen replacement, these cameras may need to be recalibrated to ensure they’re reading the road correctly. At Core Diesel, we complete ADAS calibrations in-house using dedicated calibration equipment.

At Core Diesel, our 4WD performance packages are tailored around your vehicle, your setup and what you’re asking it to do.

STAGE 1 | Daily Driver
A great starting point for the everyday 4WD that sees the occasional beach trip and minimal towing.

Typically includes:

🔹 Exhaust
🔹 Throttle controller

STAGE 2 | Towing & Touring
Our most common package - designed for 4WDs regularly hitting the road with the van in tow or heading away on touring and off-road adventures.

Typically includes:
🔹 Custom ECU remap
🔹 Exhaust
🔹 Throttle controller
🔹 Transmission cooler upgrade
🔹 Scan gauge

STAGE 3 | Serious Touring
For those who travel more often, tow regularly or are preparing their 4WD for a bigger trip. These packages are more tailored around the vehicle and what you need from it.

Typically includes:
🔹 Custom ECU remap
🔹 Exhaust
🔹 Throttle controller
🔹 Transmission cooler upgrade
🔹 Intercooler upgrade

And when it comes to the tune itself? No carpark tunes here. Your vehicle is tested and tuned on our in-house Mainline dyno, allowing us to develop and verify the tune under load with real before-and-after data.
