Manilla caravan park is back open but under strict conditions. Visitors must not have come from or stopped at a lockdown area and must be either vaccinated or supply a negative covid test that's no older than 5 days on arrival. If Tamworth goes back into lockdown then so must we. Mandy and I are both fully vaccinated and are hoping to get back to the fun times at the park as soon as possible so to our loyal clients stay safe and hope to see you soon

Lets send COVID19 packing and bring on Tamworth Country Music Festival for 2022. We are now taking bookings and allocating sites, though i will not be taking deposits at this time, we will contact you early in the New Year to confirm. We look forward to catching up with old friends and making new friends. Hopefully 2022 will see a bright new year for all of us. I must apologise to those I have not responded to with your FB messages. Im just re-learning how to actually use FB again, having lost a considerable amount of my eye sight simple tasks are not so simple anymore. In November, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, surgey in December showed it to be a grade 4 brain gbm cancer (no good newswith that one) and could not be removed in total. The past 7 months has seen chemotherapy and radiation to have no effect, and my friend came back biggerr and stronger. A new treatment over the past 4 months have been promising, where my specialist was hoping to put a lid on it and slow its aggressiveness to everyones amazement it has actually skrunk the cancer, so hopefully that will continue and I will be ready to party with you all again in 2022. I am extremely positive I can whoop Nigel (yes he has a name). Thankfully I have Alan by my side, as he has had to take up so much of what I can no longer do. Please have patience with us. Goodbye for now, and look forward to seeing you soon, camp fire going, and a little bit of music on the side. Most important a beer or a wine and friendly conversation to catch up. Love to you all, safe travels and stay wellCheers Mandy

Yes we are open for business and the park is looking beautiful and green, unlike when many of our travelling friends saw it a few years back when it resembled a dust bowl, thank you to mother natur

Many of you may have been thinking, Alan and I have been pretty quiet here in the park, not at all, we are always up too something. Last night the fire was burning, a snag on the barbie, and we kicked off our extended (social distancing entertainment area) with great music with our good friend the legendary Rex Dallas at the helm, Shannon Dallas and Dion Larkham provided for a great night of entertainment. The Tamworth Country Music Festival may have been cancelled, but as many of you know Manilla has an abundance of local talent, and so for our guests we will be providing entertainment on a regular basis so we hope to see you here in the near future, with your support, we can support our local entertainers.

Many of our Victorian friends are facing uncertainty as to what these border closures mean to them, some have been on the road prior to this coming into effect. We currently have more Victorian number plates in our park than any others. Trying to think of a way to assist our travellers on their journey and perhaps alleviate problems down the track. As a Justice of the Peace, I have suggested that I assist in compiling their receipts and preparing a Statutory Declaration on their behalf as to where they have been prior to our park and also providing at Statement by myself regarding the duration of their stay with us. I can also provide them with a blank template of a Statement to be used and signed off at other caravan parks that they stay at. There will be no charge for this service, and should any of our other Victorian travellers wish to utilise this service I will be happy to assist in this regard.

The birds are chirping, the river is flowing and the fish are biting, and Alan and myself are welcoming visitors back into our caravan park. The mornings have been a little chilly, but the days are warm and sunny, with drive through sites its a perfect spot to pull up for a night or two or make this your base camp for a little longer to explore the local area, with Tamworth only a short half an hours drive away, our beautiful Warrabah National park shouldn't be missed (Im a little biased as my grandparents owned the park originally, a great spot for a picnic on the banks of the river,a little fishing, or for those who want to go on bush walk or do a little 4 wheel driving. The view from Mt Borah where the paragliders/hang gliders fly above the clouds, has one of the best views you will find. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new friends.

I thought I should give you an update as to what has been going on in our little (quiet) caravan park, where once we had traveller's calling in to stay a night or two, now we are the drive through for the passing out of dunny paper, yes we averted the crisis on dunny paper, if only in Manilla. We started the Manilla support group for people finding it tough in these times to feed their families, and with Easter just around the corner, no child should go without, so the family cabin has become my area for stocking of essential items (and yes chocolate is an essential item), we have been out delivering toilet paper to the elderly and those in need, and prepping for Easter care packages to deliver to those in need, or for those that just need a little cheering up, especially our elderly who will not see their family this year. We are a little community down here, and those who for a better word ended stuck with us all agree, there was no better place to end up stranded. We hope all our friends that we have met in the short space of time Alan and I have been at the park, have found shelter from the storm, and remain healthy and positive.

There has been some confusion as to whether people are allowed to stay in caravan parks. Whilst we are not able to accept the day to day traveller, those of you who have no permanent residency and no where to go are still welcome in our Park.

Only a few short weeks ago, we were so excited with the transformation of the caravan park, with the rain finally coming, the dust bowl was now a green oasis, the trees were green and blooming, from the drought to the fires and now Australia's world, yours and ours is turned upside down again with a new threat the likes which none of us have ever seen. The caravan park is still open, and we are putting in place measures to ensure our patrons safety and well being. We welcome the traveller looking for a safe haven to bunker down in the coming weeks or months. Unfortunately there will be some restrictions including the number of sites allocated and the majority of caravans will need to be self-contained (own shower and toilet) we will have small number of sites available for those that do not, there will be no camping and the camp kitchen will be closed. We will have an affordable weekly rate, and it is worth noting that pensioners would be able to claim rent assistance. For those wishing to self isolate, but not feel isolated, we will be able to provide daily essentials here at the park, including the allusive dunny roll and assist you in any way that we can. Manilla's hospital is only a short distance away. We can be your safe haven in this storm. Please keep safe all our friends that we have made in the short time that we have been, and we look forward to catching up with you again when this madness ends and share a drink and a laugh around the camp fire, all our best Mandy and Alan ###x

This past week or so the tune of Glen Campbell's "Try a little kindness" has been playing in my ears, sometimes our language and cultural barriers are our blindness, from distant shores new friendships have been made, though the foundation has been built on a great tragedy, Sam and Ken could be Alan's brothers from other mothers, Loretta and I have formed an ever lasting bond, and I hope in some small way we have helped with the heavy load that you will carry home to Hong Kong with you. To Gordo and Sue Hall, Eric and Margaret Dekkers you are a constant reminder of what a wonderful community we have in Manilla. Wherever you may travel "just shine your light for everyone to see". In the years to come Im sure the name Bobby Li will be spoken many times as friends near and far reminiscence as a "top bloke" probably the highest accolade an Aussie can give.
