Customer brought their car in sounding more like a truck than a car! 😅🔧

After a quick inspection, we found the exhaust had completely snapped off. We removed the damaged section and replaced the failed flex pipe with a new stainless steel unit.

With everything welded up and back together, it’s now nice and quiet again and sounding exactly as it should. 👌

Another happy customer back on the road.

Falcon M78 diff in for a rebuild after it started making some unhappy noises. 🔧

Inspection found excessive movement in the pinion shaft — enough that it could be moved by hand. With the diff apart, the owner has decided to change the gear ratio as well, so it’s getting a full rebuild and regear while we’re in there.

A sneaky little mini spool was also found hiding inside when it was stripped down. 😅

New bearings, fresh gears with the desired ratio, and a proper setup will have this one back on the road and ready for plenty more kilometres. 💪

🔧 D-Max Back on the Road 🔧

This D-Max came into the workshop with a worn-out clutch and a gearbox oil leak.

The repairs included:
✅ New heavy-duty clutch
✅ New throw-out bearing
✅ New spigot bearing
✅ Resealed gearbox selector housing to fix the oil leak

While everything was apart, we also carried out some additional maintenance. The brake fluid, clutch fluid, gearbox oil and transfer case oil were all due for replacement, with the old fluids showing their age and contamination.

We also found the park brake wasn’t operating correctly, so the rear brakes were adjusted and the park brake restored to proper operation.

Now it’s back on the road with a fresh clutch, no leaks, smoother shifting and all fluids up to date. 👌

🚐 Jayco Poptop Upgrade 🚐

This Jayco pop-top came into the workshop because the owner was finding it difficult to lift the roof.

To make life a bit easier, we installed an airbag-assisted lifting system, with two airbags fitted at each end of the van. We also fitted a hidden compressor and valve setup, with only two simple switches visible for raising and lowering the roof.

The system is designed as a lifting assist rather than to completely lift the roof on its own, but we were pleasantly surprised by just how well it works. The airbags take all of the effort out of the job and make raising the pop-top much easier.

Everything is neatly tucked away, keeping the installation clean and functional while making setup at camp a whole lot more convenient.

🔧 Wheel Bearings 🔧

Whether it’s a car, trailer or caravan, wheel bearings need regular inspection and maintenance too.

It’s one of the things I check at every service, as wheel bearings aren’t included in most logbook service schedules. Modern bearing setups generally last much longer than older designs, but they can still wear out or fail, so it’s best to catch any issues before they become a costly or dangerous problem.

For caravans and trailers, I recommend inspecting and servicing wheel bearings every 10,000km. For vehicles still running taper bearings, servicing is typically recommended around every 50,000km.

A wheel bearing service involves stripping everything down, thoroughly cleaning and inspecting the bearings, replacing bearings and seals if required, repacking them with fresh grease, and reassembling everything to the correct specifications.

Keeping your wheels safely attached to your car, caravan or trailer is pretty important! 🚗🚐

🐄🚜 Back to work on the farm!

This Polaris ATV was brought into the workshop after it refused to start. After some diagnostics, we tracked the issue down to a break in the engine wiring harness. Once repaired, it fired straight back up and was running as it should.

Before handing it back, we carried out a quick inspection and found it was overdue for some maintenance. The air cleaner was mostly missing, the engine oil was dark and contaminated, the coolant looked more like water, and several shock bushes were missing.

We completed a full service, replaced the required parts, and gave the machine the attention it needed to keep it reliable and ready for daily farm duties.

Now it’s back where it belongs — out in the paddock feeding cattle. 🐄👌
