Bitumen Laps coming up soon! Sunday Oct. 25th.
Khanacross on the Bitumen Pad, 55 Beach rd. Avalon, Geelong Motorsports Complex.

This event is different to the Motorkhana running on Oct 11th. There is more speed, and you get to do multiple laps of the course.

The day will start off with 3 laps of Circuit Racer, you can then check out your times against your mates and go again in the next run.

Plan is to do four courses with two runs each.
$40 entry & speed licence required
Supp regs and entry forms will be sent out to GMSC members, then regular competitors in the week before the event.

This event is a good entry to motorsport and new competitors are very welcome, please message Geelong Motorsport Club for details if you would like to get started.

This event requires: Helmets, a 1kg Fire Extinguisher fitted to your (Can use a Kap Industries Bracket) and your car to be in sound condition.

Motorkhana, Khanacross and more!
For Sunday's Motorkhana, please bring your pre filled Entry forms out if possible.

This month's action at 55 Beach rd. Avalon by Geelong Motorsport Club and WDCC:

Motorkhana on Sunday Oct. 11th, the weather is going to be great.

Dirt Khanacross Oct 18th. Experience the thrill of going over the crest on the limit of grip. Can the Excels beat the Subaru's again?

Bitumen Khanacross Oct 25th. The best chance to get some speed up on the Bitumen Pad, refine your cornering, and braking!
- Last chance to do this event for the year! Don't miss out.

There might even be some events with Geelong RC Offroaders and Avalon Fun Kart Club

Now back to SUNDAY'S EVENT. If you have a copy of the supp regs / entry form. Please print the entry out if possible and pre-fill to make it easier on the organisers to get everyone booked in.

As a reminder. No dogs or other animals allowed on site.

Drivers need to be aged 12 onwards and up to 3 drivers can share your,car, enabling a shared family experience, or a challenging battle with your mates.

No extra safety modifications required to your vehicle for Motorkhana, but it does need to be in sound condition and still have an insulating cover on the positive battery terminal.

🏁 Motorkhana is back on, This Sunday Oct. 11th 🏁

After last weekend's washout, the organisers have managed a quick reschedule, and the weather forecast looks good this time.

MOTORKHANA - The easiest entry to Motorsport and on next Sunday, October 11th
55 Beach Rd. Avalon, by WDCC and Geelong Motorsport Club

Drivers need to be aged 12 onwards and up to 3 drivers can share a car enabling a shared family experience, or a challenging battle with your mates.

Just get in your car, put the seatbelt on and you are race ready.
Handbrake turns, Power slides and maybe reverse flicks are yours to master. Or you can just learn to drive smoothly and fast without all the show.

Supp regs have been sent out to regular competitors, please message us if you would like a copy

EVENT UPDATE: CANCELED due to access area flooding. There is potential to reschedule on the 11th. Please stay tuned for updates.

Motorkhana Not a Go for Sunday! Daylight Saving time!

Avalon has had some heavy rain, and more expected on Saturday which may leave some of the Motorkhana Pit area flooded. If so, we will need trailered cars to unload at the main pit area just inside the facility entrance.
The directing team will confirm this on arrival Sunday.

Sunday's weather forecast looks better, with just a low chance of rain and a top of 17 degrees.

Gates open around 8:30 am, Drivers briefing at 9:45am

Anything from standard road cars to those with Incredible Rally Heritage like this one, come out to the Avalon track

This 'Group 2' Datsun 160J was built at the Nissan 'works' in Oppama Japan during July 1980, it was then shipped to New Zealand and entered in the World Rally Championship round 'Motogard Rally', crewed by Australians George Fury / Monty Suffern. They finished fourth outright. A similar car crewed by Timo Salonen / Seppo Harjanne won the event.

The car was then sent to Australia where it was fitted with a twin-cam engine and entered in the Southern Cross Rally for Geoff Portman / Ross Runnalls. During 1981 it was returned to a SOHC engine and mostly used in the ARC by Ross Dunkerton / Jeff Beaumont, before being sold off at the end of that year into privateer hands.

The current owner bought it in 2000 as a battered and mostly empty shell, then spent many years researching its history and collecting the necessary parts. The body shell is original, rare for works cars of this age.

After restoration it was first driven at the 2020 Rally Retro Festival in Bayswater. It competes in club level events, including khanacross at Avalon and other tracks around Victoria.

Thanks to Jeff for his dedication in rebuilding this car, bringing it out to competition for all to see and providing the history for this post.

You can get started in Khanacross with a near standard road car, share that car with multiple drivers, and drivers can be from 12 years old and up.

Here's the results for the Sept. 20th Dirt Khanacross.

Thanks to all competitors for making it a solid day of great competition, and an even bigger thanks to the officials/volunteers for enduring the weather conditions.

Looking through the class results, it is also great to see the strong field in Juniors. With a total of 10 competitors in the class, making up a quarter of the field, and all gaining some valuable driving experience.

Next event is a Bitumen Motorkhana on October 4th, then another Dirt Khanacross on October 18th.

New competitors are always welcome, especially Juniors from 12 to 17 years old.
