Road closures still in place yet it is starting to dry out after recent rain. See the latest from Mt Barnett Roadhouse.

For your own safety, we urge everyone to adhere to the Main Roads WA road closures currently in place…

Manning Gorge Campground is OPEN

The sun is shining allowing the campground to open up this afternoon. Please take it easy and keep to the speed limit on the track in. But mostly, enjoy your stay!

The Gibb River Road is still CLOSED from us to the Kalumburu turn off. The western end of Gibb - towards Derby and Broome is open.

Manning and Mt Barnett can currently only be accessed from the west.

Please be aware that whilst our campground is open, many on the western side are still closed.

For more info, don’t hesitate to give us a call on 9191 7007

As the rain cell passes through the Kimberley region here is this mornings update from our friends at Mt Barnett Roadhouse.

For our guests safety as well as minimising the risk of vehicle damage, our advise to current travelers is to "Stay Put" until road conditions improve.

For those getting ready to start their trip in the coming days be vigilant in checking the most up to date road conditions

Rain has hit Mt Barnett. The unseasonal rain front has finally hit the Gibb with over 30mm falling overnight at Mt Barnett.

Whilst our aloe vera is loving it - our roads are not.

Manning Gorge Campground and access to Manning Falls is now CLOSED until the access road is deemed safe for travel.

If you are on the Gibb and camped in a safe place, please stay where you are and wait for the rain to pass and the roads to dry. Unnecessary travel on wet roads is dangerous.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the rain!

For advice and updates, feel free to give us a call on 9191 7007.
Mt Barnett Roadhouse is still open and trading as usual 8am - 4pm.

The iconic Ivanhoe Crossing in Kununurra is NOW officially open.

Here are some tips for approaching this crossing safely:

💧This crossing can be dangerous due to slippery surfaces, fast-flowing water, and the presence of both Fresh and Saltwater Crocs.
🚫 No pedestrian access
🚗 Vehicle load limit: 15 tonnes gross (not all vehicles can cross)
🌊 If water is above the marks on the pillars, don’t cross
🐢 Travel at a steady, low speed and don’t stop

Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge, located toward the western end of the GRR, is a must visit on your Gibb River road trip.

Renovations over the last few years have delivered great facilities and unique experiences for travelers.

We would be recommending at least a 2 nights stay.

Great news for those doing the Gibb early in the season. The river level at Mount Barnett was always a contributing factor for the Gibb River Road opening…..

The Barnett Crossing is looking a little different this year.

For those who have traveled the Gibb before know the Barnett Crossing is usually a sandy crossing with the potential to have deep and boggy spots.

To aid the movement of grading teams along the road, Main Roads have used gravel to raise the level of the crossing.

Whilst the depth marker on the tree has the depth at 1.4m, the current depth on the gravel crossing is around 500mm.

Please take is slowly when crossing the river, and remember to treat all river crossings as a single lane.

Manning Gorge Campground and Manning Falls access opens Monday 28th April.

See you all soon! 😁

Our access road is a bit slow going but our grader will be working on it in the next couple of days.
