Its been a while. Still hard at it, been wayy to busy to post up all the massive jobs that have been coming in. There are worse problems to have than being too busy. I just wanted to say thank you for everyones patience! Parts are being delayed left and right, and then jobs are piling up, but everything leaves this shop done right and done once! Welcome to 2026!

VW Caddy had some lovely surprises in store. After bringing us in to help remove some very stuck injectors, we discover just how close this engine was to complete destruction. After clean and asessment, it seems a single injector was replaced, and when this happened either the bolts were re-used or over tightened stretching the bolt and reducing the torque. In these applications new bolts are ESSENTIAL, 1 6mmx1.0mm bolt holds down 2 injectors firing up to 26,000psi of fuel pressure on top of 2 pistons generating 450-500PSI of compression, it's very important to replace these $6-$8 bolts.

Todays patient, a 2.2L Turbo Diesel Hyundai Santa Fe featuring the D4EB engine with 282,000 Kms on it. A painful reminder to all to have your injector combustion seals checked every 100,000km. These were likely factory originals. In most cases the gasses will pass harmlessly past the injector and into the engine bay and noticed either audibly or by the distinct smell of exhaust gas in the vehicle cabin. Some engines like this one, the injectors are internal and unfortunately the soot particles have been getting into the engine oil and starving the top end, namely the turbocharger and hydraulic lifters. The turbocharger did not survive. Get em checked people!

This LDV G10 2.0L Petrol got some pretty good life out of its timing chain! Look at that stretch though! This thing was somehow still running. 5.6mm on the adjuster piston with the new chain versus a whopping 23.25mm before!

Combustion seals in a Hyundai Santa Fe 2014 model. 300,000km on this beast means it was definitely well designed! Freshly cut some new seats and some thicker washers installed should mean the new seals out last the engine now!

2x 79 Series 4.5L V8 landcruisers, 2x nasty fuel samples pulled from the fuel filters, 1 has minor engine damage caught early and the other is missing an entire cylinder. Hopefully the insurance companies come to the party as these aren't cheap or easy to repair. It's worth noting that neither cars water detection systems have picked up on this. Check and change those filters often folks! It only takes one bad fuel up to cause serious damage.

Great engineering and design from Great Wall. Just gunna cram a hard plastic COOLANT pipe millimeters away from the EGR cooler and the DPF. Barely 80,000km before cracking, and shocker to no one, difficult to find parts for. The price tag is appealing sure, but your after purchase support out of warranty is virtually non existent. Be wary!

Please ask when your timing belt is due! Also, how do you even get this much dirt INSIDE of a timing case?

Timing belt was due at 300,000km and this rig managed to push to 337,000 before gently letting go at idle. Luckily, no valves were harmed in its passing.
