When “just a headlight restore” turns into a team-building exercise.

This 2003 Audi TT Coupe rolled in looking innocent enough… until we realised Audi had other plans for us.

To properly restore these headlights, it wasn’t a quick sand-and-polish job, oh no! We had to remove the headlights completely, which meant pulling apart half the front end like we were auditioning for an American car restoration tv show.

The overall effort included;

* Finding all the clips and bolts hidden in Narnia�
* Bolt removal that require double-jointed wrists�
* Vocabulary use our English teachers would be proud of
* A solid team huddle

But hey, we don’t cut corners. If it needs to come apart to do it properly, that’s exactly what we do.

Results?

* Crystal clear headlights�

The team at Two Step Detailing is flat-out in the workshop this week — but not just for any job.

Before we head to Sydney for the Bathurst 1000, we’ve got one very special send-off: a 2016 VF Series II Holden Commodore SS…one of the last Aussie-built legends to roll off the Holden production line. 🇦🇺💪

It feels poetic that our final booking before Bathurst is an Aussie-built Holden — a car that carries the spirit of the Ford vs Holden debate alive, has contributed to the addictive sound of roaring engines echoing through the hills, and carries the final memories of decades of Aussie motoring history written on the slopes of Mount Panorama.

Fittingly, it’s getting the kind of treatment worthy of a first place at Mount Panorama itself, a full body reset including a deep cut and polish, defect and scratch removal, wheel off clean and polish all in preparation for a full IGL Coatings suite comprising of:

Step aside Teslas—1986 called, and it wants its style back. 🚘✨

Our latest long-term restoration project wasn’t just another detail, it was a full revival of one of the quirkiest icons to ever roll off the Chrysler production line: the Chrysler LeBaron Mark Cross Town & Country convertible. Yep—the one with the “wood look” panels that screamed suburban luxury and National Lampoons summer drives all at once.

Here’s what we tackled to bring this gem back to life:

✨ A complete paint restoration using modern correction techniques, giving those ‘80s panels a mirror finish worthy of today’s standards.

🌧️ A convertible roof makeover with specialist waterproofing—so this classic is as weather-ready as it is stylish.

🌲 And the pièce de résistance… those unmistakable faux-wood panels. We carefully restored and revived them, because what’s a Town & Country without its signature “cabin-on-wheels” look?

Every once in awhile we get an absolute pearler of a gig come through the shop…today’s one is no exception! This time it’s a mean green SS Commodore with some special tweaks under the bonnet.

The Two Step Detailing team is tasked with a full top to tail decon, clay bar, 2 stage correction and finally a decent slather of Arcane Ceramic Coating.

Whilst Hobart undergoes its yearly 2 day heatwave, we’re jumping in head first working on this job.

Nothing like working on good old Aussie manufactured vehicles- there’s simply something special about the resulting transformation and efforts required.

🚨🚗 Porsche Carrera - paint revamp 🚨

Another week another amazing paint correction gig.

Of all the bookings this week, this was an absolute standout for several reasons.

Although it was a slow burn (due to all the different correction approaches needed) the team witnessed a dull and weathered exterior come to life.

There was nothing this Porsche 911 Carrera wasn’t going to serve up paint wise. We chose not to have anything getting in the way of returning it back showroom condition.

After all the hard work was done we applied the newest ceramic coat from IGL Coatings Australia- Arcane. This we thought would bring back the striking Ocean Blue Metallic duco….it did not disappoint!

IGL Arcane has to be seen to be believed. The photos attached only carried minimal editing and to stand in front and see the glass like reflection is no understatement.

For a job to come to an end and blow the team away like this, is a special moment in any detailing workshop.

All that’s left to do is to install additional protection on the bonnet using BushWrapz Advance PPF film, put everything back together and hand the keys back.
