DUTTON DEMANDS LYDIA THORPE TO TUG THE FORELOCK AND LICKSPITTLE

Mr Dutton demands that Lydia Thorpe leave the Senate and apologise to the king following her demand for the return of stolen land.

It is almost implausible that Ms Thorpe does not recognise the benefits that have been bestowed on First Nations People following the invasion like Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price who continues to extol the same. Sure there were massacres, dispossession of land, theft of children, but this was done with the best intentions to "civilise" our first Nations People when they were introduced to alcoholism, domestic slavery, child abuse and misogyny.

Of course the racism they experienced and continue to experience is character building. That it leads to needless deaths as a result of record incarceration of First Nations People is just one of those minor problems; our bureaucrats shrug their shoulders at, and the rest of the population feels comfortable with. Just like the Voice referendum demonstrated.

Australians like Dutton are comfortable with racism. That is why there is no compunction for calling for the expulsion of recalcitrants who bring uncomfortable truths about dispossession, like Thorpe to be removed from Parliament.

During that period work performed by First Nations People was regarded as training and that is why they were not paid wages but received rations. Certainly more than enough to prevent them from starving, but not more to ensure that they did not raise above their station in life.

Naturally there had to be a period of acclimatization to the wonders of civilization and that is probably why it took nearly two hundred years before First Nations People were recognised as Australians with full citizen rights and a bit longer for Australia to acknowledge that they had land rights.

The Monarchy has been a marvelous institution for Australia even though

"As the palace letters demonstrate, the Queen’s private secretary, Martin Charteris, who became Baron Charteris, instead of reminding Kerr that he was obliged to seek and heed the advice of his prime minister, encouraged him to look to the “reserve powers” that had fallen into disuse.

Whitlam was no favourite of the palace. He ditched imperial honours, restyled the monarch as “Queen of Australia”, and was seen as an active republican chipping away at the Crown.

Hocking says, “There can be no doubt as to our king’s support for Kerr’s removal of the elected government without warning.” She says that in “an extraordinarily improper letter” Charles told Kerr just months after the Dismissal not to lose heart: “what you did was the right and courageous thing to do”.(Paul Bongiorno
Lidia Thorpe and King Charles’s visit).

But that is but a trifle, when all the civilising glories elicited above, the Empire bestowed on our First Nations People.

So "of course our First Nations People should tug the forelock and likspittle" to their betters like the king.

EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY DENIED IN A SKEWED HOUSING PLAYING FIELD

How can the average working Australian compete with a Negatively Geared high income Investor, assisted by the taxpayer and whose Capital Gains are discounted by 50%?

Not only does such an high income investor have the capacity to pay a higher price and out bid an average Australian, but that high income investor also has the option to, either further increasing income from the acquired property by converting it to an Airbnb and or keep it vacant and wait for the price to rise before disposing it and gain a 50% discount on the profit.

At the last census there were 1 million empty houses in Australia and many what otherwise would have been rental properties have been taken up by Airbnbs.

And taxpayers are forgoing some $20 billion per annum to maintain our housing shortage.
In the meantime one million working Australians have to rely on food hangouts and an increasing number are becoming homeless.
Is it surprising that our productivity is waning?

Is this what a Clever Country's leaders do?

OPEN LETTER TO AUSTRALIAN UNIONS AND THEIR LEADERS
Guys Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts are putting your members' money via the taxpayer into the pockets of those who already have more money than they know what to do with it.

Not only but also those policies of which many members of the Labor Party are taking advantage of ensure that rents stay high and the possibility of you members ever buying a home is getting more remote by the day.

Do you think it is in your member's interests to put pressure on Labor to stop discriminating against them?

The deafening silence in the eye of the hurricane
By Julian Cribb
Oct 15, 2024
Calm, tranquility, peace, love, happiness is born inside; It is reflected on the outside, that is our energy
In the eye of the hurricane is a moment of calm and silence, before wild chaos and destruction resume. Symbolically, the world now stands in such a place.

“We are on the brink of an irreversible climate disaster. This is a global emergency beyond any doubt. Much of the very fabric of life on Earth is imperilled.”

Thus opens the 2024 State of the Climate Report, authored by such distinguished names as William Ripple, Johan Rockstrom, Michael Mann, Naomi Oreskes and Stefan Rahmstorf.

Released in the same week as the third hurricane in a season barrelled into the US State of Florida, wreaking another $50 billion’s worth of havoc and sending millions fleeing for their lives, the report was greeted with stony indifference by governments world-wide.

Hurricanes are fuelled by warm seas. And warm seas are fuelled by coal, oil and land clearing, driving planetary heating. In the Caribbean it requires water temperatures of 26 degrees C to spawn cyclonic storms. This year they were 30.5 degrees – a gigantic heat engine churning out climate terror.

Not all governments are completely indifferent, however. Some are doing their level best to speed the disaster. In Australia, for example, the Albanese Government has so far approved 7 huge new coal mines, yielding 1.5 billion tonnes in fresh carbon emissions – and has 25 more queued up to go. To distract public attention from its climate treachery, the Australian Government is preparing for war with China.

Two years in a row, the desert nation of Saudi Arabia has been ravaged by floods, which tore through the cities of Mecca, Jeddah, Jizan and Medina. Saudi is the home of the world’s largest oil company, the state-owned $2 trillion Saudi Aramco, which has for two decades ranked as the world’s No 1 climate polluter. The heat deaths of 1300 pilgrims in Mecca in 2024 was a clear sign that Saudi Arabia itself may be uninhabitable before the end of the century. At the Grand Mosque a temperature of 51.8 degrees C was recorded. Meanwhile, Aramco has vowed to be the “last man standing” in world oil production.

In the US, the world’s second largest climate polluter, climate disasters have cost the nation $1.5 trillion in the past ten years. Yet both parties in the forthcoming presidential election are pledged to a fossil fuelled economy – one to “drill, baby, drill” while the other is supportive of record US fossil energy production. As a result, the US has been slammed by over 200 climate disasters in the multi-billion dollar range since 1980. Yet all those fleeing Floridians will return to their ravaged homes – and most will cast their votes in favour of more hurricanes.

The irony is that, in country after country, the senior military brass are warning their governments that climate constitutes the biggest security risk now facing any nation. And they are being steadfastly ignored by the political machine.

In Australia the Australian Security Leaders Climate Group (ASLCG) – a body of eminent retired military commanders, business people and defence academics – has told the government bluntly “Climate change now presents a grave, and potentially existential, threat to society and human security”. The Group’s chair, Admiral (retd.) Chris Barrie, added “The Climate Risk is recognised by catastrophic risk and security analysts as the greatest threat to civilisation.”

In a subsequent report “Too Hot to Handle – the Scorching Reality of Australia’s climate security failure” the Group gave the Australian Government a resounding “fail” in a report card on its performance in reporting on the climate security risk. It criticised defective methodology, enforced secrecy, a tokenistic approach, lack of public engagement and failure to recognise the scale of the threat in eight Government policy statements since 2022.

In particular, the Group accused the Government of hushing up a major report by the Office of National Intelligence on climate risk. The inference, that its findings have been suppressed so the Government can freely pursue its game of appeasing fossil fuel corporates by opening new mines, was plain.

It would not be an understatement to say that a deep anger is brewing among defence experts, not only in Australia but globally, at the way western politicians are willing to burn the human future – by ignoring what is arguably the biggest threat since humans first emerged.

While the climate threat garners headlines the military, to its credit, is also starting to recognise a plethora of other threats, equally grave, which compound the existential crisis. In the words of the ASLCG “Catastrophic events include nuclear war, climate change, biosecurity including pandemics, and disruptive technologies such as AI.” It has now added ecological collapse.

The World Economic Forum’s 2024 Global Risk Report found that more than half of those surveyed believe that the risk of global catastrophe is high or extreme over the next decade.

At a recent National Climate Security Roundtable hosted by the Group, Netherlands General Tom Middendorp, chair of the International Military Council on Climate and Security, added the depletion of key resources (like water) and food failures among the catastrophic threats now facing the world.

The Council for the Human Future’s recent Roundtable also listed global poisoning, overpopulation, rising social and economic inequality and the worldwide spread of lies as compounding the existential emergency.

Like many thinking citizens, the military are perplexed that so many political leaders are now ‘human crisis deniers’, steadfastly ignoring all the warnings by experts and the tested data provided by science.

Some claim that the political mind simply does not grasp the idea of ‘risk’ – or, rather, it sees risk as meaning “risk of my not being re-elected”, which in political calculus comes way ahead of a risk that could destroy human society.

Others see the $7 trillion tentacles of the global fossil fuels sector, fat from the subsidies it receives from governments, seizing the political steering wheel in democracies and autocracies alike. The fact that the UN climate Conference of the Parties has now been overwhelmed by representatives of the oil sector is proof enough that the real government of the Planet lies in a handful of greedy corporate boardrooms, not in any parliament or party plenum.

Even the militaries of the world are powerless in the face of such overwhelming might. Indeed, they too, are largely beholden to it.

Thus we sit, in the illusory calm of the eye of the hurricane of human downfall, blithely awaiting the next blow. The science tells us, unambiguously, we are in “an abrupt climate upheaval, a dire situation never before encountered in the annals of human existence.”

There is no plan to overcome such a crisis in any country on Earth, or in the UN. There is not even a world agreement that humans ought to try to survive and mitigate these risks.

Which is why we need an Earth System Treaty – and a World Plan of Action.

HOW EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY IS SKEWED BY AN UNEVEN PLAYING FIELD?
Are you a young person about to embark on a career with high income prospects and want to start a family ?
Don't.
The odds are stacked against you unless you come from a very rich family who is prepared to finance your education and assist you to buy a house.
As a consequence of 3 Government Policies your road is paved with hardship, stress and disappointment.
Those Government policies which make you life so difficult are HECS because by the time you get your qualification you will be in a lifetime of debt.
The other two are Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts which provide billions of dollars of taxpayer money to very wealthy Australians to build wealth and exclude you from the housing market.
By doing that they increase the price of housing and increase the rents ensuring that when you get on the treadmill you stay there with no prospect of getting a house or having the ability to raise a family.
That is why Australia's birth rate has fallen to the lowest level ever and why this country will not have enough workers to look after retirees in the future.
But all that can change when the Government abolishes HECS, Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts.

THE SAD SAD GENTRIFICATION OF THE LABOR PARTY AND THE LOSS OF ITS CONVICTIONS

Watching Murray Watt ON iNSIDERS THIS MORNING demonstrated how a Gentrified Labour has lost the courage of its convictions when in answer to a direct question.
he said
"...do you think the more than generous taxpayer handouts to the wealthy via Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts are fair..."

all that Murray Watt could say is

"...it's not Labour Policy to change that policy now....."

That sort of timidity and lack of conviction only empowers somebody like Dutton to further attack Labour.

It is sad very sad that Labour has deserted the very people it claims to represent. They have join the GentrifiedLandlord classes. It's members of Parliament accumulate taxpayer funded Negatively Geared Properties which they then monetize by enjoying capital Gains Discounts when they sell the same.

17/10/2024

WHAT IS LABOR DOING FOR HOUSING SUPPLY?
Taking into account policies such as Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts, which Labor says it won't touch; Labour is ensuring that housing supply for first home buyers not only declines, but causes prices to increase as cashed up investors keep snapping up houses at the expense of first home buyers.
Not only but also those whale investors (owners of 3 or more investment properties) keep increasing their wealth with taxpayer money. Once they accumulate more than 10 properties any additional property is wholly financed by the taxpayer.
Some of those whale investors own more than 100 properties ensuring that house prices stay high, that properties for first home buyers stay out of reach and ensure that fewer and fewer families can afford to raise children.
Finally the declining birth rate will ensure that Australia faces a generational Agamemnon as there will be fewer and fewer taxpayers to sustain the increase of retirees.
THE COALITION IS NOT ANY BETTER EITHER.

UNCARING UNIONS SITTING ON THEIR HANDS IN HOUSING CRISIS

It beggars belief that Unions are sitting on their hands whilst the housing crisis hurts their members. With over a million Australians many of whom are Union members unable to afford food let alone buy their first house house the Unions have nothing to say about $30 or more billion of taxpayer money given via Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts to wealthy Australians.

The Labor and the Coalition don't care about this gross discrimination against Union members and the Unions also have nothing to say about this indiscriminate use of taxpayer money.
Unionists should give their support to the Greens who are the only party which wants to scrap Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts.
Unionists should also note that the stance of the major parties to Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Discounts is hardly surprising as most of them avail themselves to the rorts of those policies as most of them own investment properties some own more than 100.

It's time for Unions to step in and stop that waste of taxpayer money and use the same to provide relief to the million or so Australians who cannot afford to eat.

CAN MR DUTTON ADVISE HOW DO OCCUPIERS ACT IN SELF DEFENCE OF OCCUPIED LAND?

Illegal settlements in Palestine are land occupied by Israel. What I would like Mr Dutton to explain is

"........on what basis is the occupation of Palestinian land regarded as Self Defence?..."

THE YELLOW PERIL MISCONCEPTION
The fear that China has a technological advantage in EV's and is rapidly moving to decarbonize its economy does not accord with the fear narrative of the West which is quite disconcerting to the uninformed and against everybody's self interest.
China unveiled: how moving East shattered my Western illusions

By James Wood
Oct 10, 2024

Moving to China has opened my eyes in a way I never expected. The stories I grew up hearing, the ones I accepted without much thought, started to unravel. One of the toughest things I’ve had to face is realising that the West, where I’ve spent most of my life, might not always be the “good guys” I thought they were. This was a hard pill to swallow.

Take the recent AUKUS deal as an example. Australia is spending hundreds of billions of dollars to buy nuclear-powered submarines from the U.S. and the U.K., supposedly to protect itself from China, its biggest trading partner. China has no plan to invade Australia. What threat could China pose to Australia? This sounds more like Australia playing its part in the U.S. agenda. It is counterintuitive and even harmful to their own interests. To make matters worse, the U.K. admitted that part of the motivation was “revenge” against France. It’s disheartening to see such important decisions influenced by petty squabbles rather than genuine national interest.

Living in China has shown me firsthand how different reality is from the narratives often pushed in the West. I’ve seen how terms like the “China Shock” are used to create fear and justify aggressive policies. This kind of rhetoric fosters an “us versus them” mentality, making it easier to impose sanctions and rally the ignorant against China. Ignorance is bliss, but is also a very dangerous behaviour.

I’ve also noticed how the media can subtly shape public opinion. For example, headlines often use sensational or emotionally charged language that can mislead readers about the true nature of a story. Incidents may be reported in a way that emphasises negative aspects without providing full context, leading those who don’t read beyond the headline to develop skewed perceptions. These are some of the subtle tactics that influence how people view other countries, especially China.

It’s astonishing how many people who’ve never been to China, let alone lived here, are adamant that they know more about the country than those of us who actually reside here. They form strong opinions based solely on secondhand information, often clashing with the firsthand experiences of both Chinese citizens and foreigners who’ve spent significant time travelling and living throughout China. Having witnessed the direct contradictions between what is often reported in Western media and the reality on the ground, it’s clear that personal experience paints a very different picture. Yet, these individuals remain convinced of their views, highlighting how powerful and pervasive media influence can be.

Media can have a profound impact on shaping people’s beliefs and perceptions, sometimes leading to a form of indoctrination or “brainwashing.” Through repetitive exposure to biased or one-sided information, individuals may develop deeply ingrained views that align with the presented narratives. Psychological phenomena like confirmation bias and the backfire effect explain how people tend to favour information that confirms their existing beliefs while dismissing or reacting negatively to contradictory evidence. When confronted with truths that challenge their preconceived notions, especially those shaped without firsthand experience, they might lash out defensively. This reaction serves as a protective mechanism to maintain their worldview and avoid the discomfort of cognitive dissonance. In the context we’ve discussed, it highlights how powerful media influence can be and the challenges in addressing misconceptions perpetuated by persistent narratives.

The more time I spend here, the more I realise that collaboration brings better results than confrontation. China’s advancements in technology, commitment to clean energy and contributions to global markets are significant, but often overshadowed by Western fears of losing dominance. Instead of acknowledging these positives, there’s a tendency to resort to bullying tactics, sanctions and spreading misinformation.

It’s been a challenging journey reconciling these observations with the beliefs I held for so long. Coming to terms with the idea that the world isn’t just black and white and that the West doesn’t have all the answers, has been both tough and liberating. I’ve learned the importance of forming my own opinions based on firsthand experiences rather than accepting what’s been fed to me.

Since moving here, I’ve seen how much there is to appreciate. The people are welcoming, the culture is rich and there’s a sense of progress that’s palpable. It’s a far cry from the oppressive image I once had. I’ve realised that many misconceptions are born from a lack of understanding and exposure.

China is now more accessible than ever, with many countries enjoying visa-free travel or simplified entry procedures. Perhaps it’s time to set aside any unfounded fears and see the country for yourself. Visiting China could be the most eye-opening experience you’ll ever have, challenging and possibly overturning any preconceived notions you hold. Be prepared for your expectations to be transformed by the reality on the ground. If you’re genuinely curious about understanding China better, there’s no substitute for firsthand experience. But if you’re unwilling to question the narratives you’ve been told, you might not even consider it. For those open to discovery, China awaits with surprises that could change your perspective entirely.

THE TURKEYS INCHARGE OF THE COUNTRY

Donald Horne said many years ago that Australia was the Lucky Country led by Mediocrities. Nothing seems to have changed since then. Listening to Michele Rowland and their attitude to Gambling Adds this morning confirms that the Labor Party are a bunch of Turkeys.

Whilst the Coalition and their histrionics are not just a bunch of malicious Turkeys, but Turkeys mired in demonstrable ignorance.

Neither Party has the internal fortitude to bring about the reforms the country so urgently needs.
