It's that time of year again. Plan your travelling on country roads to daylight hours unless absolutely necessary.

⚠️ "SLOW DOWN, SAVE MY SPECIES!!!"⚠️

Time to remind everyone again to slow down on our roads from dusk to dawn!

This time of the year, with longer days and the weather heating up, we see an increase in animals out on nice nights enjoying their dinner under the stars. It is also dispersal season for some of our iconic and endangered species, such as the
Tasmanian devil, and Eastern and Spotted-tail quoll.

Unfortunately, this time of year also brings more travellers around our state, and this inevitably leads to an increase in wildlife collisions. This poor Spotted-tail quoll was found by one of our staff on their way to work this morning! 😞

If you are travelling around our beautiful state this Spring/Summer, please remember to avoid driving at night if you can. If you can't, drive slow and watch out for wildlife! If you are planning a visit to Cradle Mountain, please adhere to the 40km/h zone!

If you do find roadkill, or accidentally hit an animal yourself, if it is safe to do so please stop, pull the animal off the road and check it's pouch for any young. If you do find any injured or orphaned wildlife, keep it warm, dark and in a quiet place and call Bonorong Wildlife Rescue on 0447 264 625 (0447 ANIMAL).

To report a deceased animal, you can use the Tasmanian Roadkill Reporter app.

Congratulations to Sara and Glenn on winning the award for best caravan park in Northern Tasmania. This is one of our favourite parks and a great location to base yourselves to explore the nearby caves and Cradle Mountain. You may even see the resident platypus that lives in the creek on the property.
