Another in-house conversion completed here at Platinum Tuning.
This customer initially came to us wanting more power from the original VQ. After a number of discussions around reliability, long-term goals, and usable performance, we come to the agreement that the Toyota 2JZ was the right foundation to build from.
The goal was OEM+. Factory integration, clean presentation with a proven performance platform underneath. On top of that, the project was completed within a tight timeframe to get to .label.invitational which made planning and ex*****on critical.
Scope of works included:
• Complete 2JZ engine and drivetrain integration.
• Full custom wiring harness designed and built in-house.
• Haltech ECU integration with full system control.
• Custom fuel system.
• Custom intercooler mounting and fabricated intercooler piping.
• Full turbo-back exhaust fabrication.
• Cooling system integration.
• Engine and gearbox mounting fabrication.
• OEM-style routing, finishing and system integration throughout.
As expected, it didn’t stay stock. The engine received a fully built head with BC components, Plazmaman inlet and coil kit, G35-1050 Garrett turbo on a 6Boost manifold, Turbosmart boost control for precise management, all controlled by a Haltech Nexus R3.
All fabrication, wiring, assembly and calibration completed in-house.
