Okay, this is a pretty wild statistic 👀🛞
The NSW Point to Point Transport Commission recently reported that more than 88% of the defect notices issued by its on-street compliance team over the past 12 months were related to tyre safety.
Now, before anyone comes at me—this number relates specifically to the vehicles checked by that team, not every defect notice issued across NSW.
But still…88% is huge!
The tricky thing with tyres is that they don’t always look worn from where you’re standing. The outside edge might look perfectly fine, while the inside edge is completely worn out and something you would never notice unless you knew where to look.
When checking your tyres, don’t forget to look at:
🛞 The tread across the entire tyre—not just the outside edge
💨 Your tyre pressures, including the spare
⚠️ Any cracks, cuts, bulges or other damage
🔍 Uneven wear that could point to an alignment or suspension issue
🚗 Any pulling, shaking or changes in how your car feels to drive
You don’t need to wait until your rego check—or until the cords are showing—to find out there’s a problem.
If you’re not sure, bring your vehicle in and ask our team to take a look. We would much rather tell you that your tyres still have plenty of life left than have you find out the hard way on the side of the road 💙
