Hi all i am going to to the information about the trucks history i shall need to do this in several posts so bear with me.
This artical appeared in the 50th anniversary magazine of the V.V.C.A.A published April 2019,
Paul Smith's 1934 Chevrolet truck. In Australia,Chevrolet trucks were prominent workhorses from the 1920's to the 1970's,but the heavy nature of their pattern of use was often a determining factor in their demise,so fewer have survived than Chevrolet passenger vehicles and commercial Chevrolet's are less well represented in VVCAA circles as a result.Paul is only the third owner of his truck and this probably contributed to its survival-and now brought back to its original glory. It seems that the interest in Chevrolet commercials has risen in recent years and it is hoped that Paul's story will attract the attention of readers.
Team Effort on the 1934 Chevrolet Series PA
My Chevrolet is a 1934 Series PA 1 1/2 ton truck with a 131" wheelbase, it was originally purchased by Mr C.White from E.G.Eager & Son in Newstead,Brisbane(the Queensland distributor for Chevrolet cars and trucks) and driven home to Warwick, where he and his brothers managed a cattle property. As a sideline, the truck was used to deliver firewood in and around Warwick township and this use continued until he retired to Redcliffe. The truck remained on the property where it was stored in a barn;on one of his visits home he found that vandals had damaged the truck, breaking the windscreen and stealing the distributor cap, rotor and carburetor and air filter. In response to this Mr White had the truck trailered to Redcliffe and stored in a garage.
